  M27 junctions 2 and 3 bridge maintenance work

  We're carrying out essential maintenance work on the bridge between junctions 2 and 3 on the M27 to keep it safe and in good condition.

  We'll be replacing joints and waterproofing on top of the bridge and repairing concrete underneath. This work is vital to maintain the structural integrity of the bridge.

  M27 closures and lane restrictions

  closures

  July 2025:

  • Saturday 19 July: M27 eastbound junction 2 to junction 3 closed overnight
  • Sunday 20 July: M27 westbound junction 3 to junction 2 closed overnight

  September 2025:

  • Saturday 13 September: M27 eastbound junction 2 to junction 3 closed overnight
  • Sunday 14 September: M27 westbound junction 3 to junction 2 closed overnight

  Lane restrictions

  19 July 2025 to December 2025:

  Narrow lanes in both directions between junctions 2 and 3, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  Station Road closure

  Friday 26 September to Monday 29 September: Station Road will be closed for the weekend.

  During the Station Road weekend closure, we'll provide an alternative route or access through the closure for Test Valley Way.

  Diversion routes

  M27 overnight closures:

  • leave at M27 junction 3
  • take M271 south
  • then A35 west
  • then A326 north to rejoin M27 at junction 2

  Use the same route in reverse for the opposite direction.

  Station Road closure:

  • Weston Lane
  • Brownhill Way
  • A3057 Romsey Road
  • Coldharbour Lane to Lee Lane

  Use the same route in reverse for the opposite direction.

  Overnight closures

  There are overnight closures coming up on 19 and 20 July.

  Saturday 19 July 

  • Overnight closure of M27 eastbound between Junction 2 (Ower Interchange) and Junction 3 (Rownhams Interchange)

  Sunday 20 July 

  • Overnight closure of the same stretch but on the westbound side

  Also from Saturday 19 July through to the end of the year narrow lanes will be in place 24/7 on this stretch.

  Diversions

  • Leave at M27 J3
  • M271 South
  • A35 West
  • A326 North
  • Rejoin at M27 J2

  Same route in reverse.

  For Station Road closure:

  • Weston Lane
  • Brownhill Way
  •  A3057 Romsey Road

  Same route in reverse.
