  Weather forecast prompts change to schedule

  Due to adverse weather forecasts, the scheduled closure of the northbound carriageway between the Liss Interchange and Ham Barn Roundabout this weekend has been reduced by two days.

  The closure will still start from 9pm tomorrow (Friday 21 February), but the carriageway will now reopen at 6am on Saturday 22 February.

  The forecast strong winds and rain would have risked affecting the quality of the planned road resurfacing.

  We are currently ahead of schedule, so this shouldn’t have any impact on the overall timescale of the project.

  A full weekend closure of the southbound carriageway is due to run next weekend from 9pm Friday 28 February until 6am Monday 3 March. 

  Overnight closures from 9pm and 6am between Longmoor Interchange and Liss Interchange are scheduled until Saturday 15 March.

  Changes to upcoming traffic management

  Since our last update, we've changed some of the road closure points for this project.

  This allows us to do other highways work at the same time. Working this way helps us minimise disruption by removing the need for more closures in future.

  We'll be working between Longmoor Interchange and Liss Interchange.

  We'll need overnight (9pm to 6am) closures between Longmoor Interchange and Liss Interchange from 10 February to 15 March.

  We'll also need two weekend closures:

  • northbound 9pm 21 February to 6am 24 February
  • southbound 9pm 28 February to 6am 3 March

  There'll also be extended closures between Sheet Interchange and Liphook Interchange on certain dates (given below).

  We'll phase our traffic management to limit disruption as much as possible. Please plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time for your journeys.

  Phase 1

  Northbound carriageway closure between Liss Interchange and Ham Barn Roundabout. Local access only between Sheet Link/Midhurst Junction and Liss Interchange:

  • night closures- 10 February to 14 February and 10 March to 11 March
  • weekend closure -  9pm 21 February to 6am 24 February.

  Extended Northbound carriageway closure between Sheet Interchange and Ham Barn Roundabout 17 February to 19 February.

  Work starts soon on essential resurfacing

  Essential resurfacing starts soon at Ham Barn Roundabout and the approaching slip roads on the A3 at West Liss in Hampshire.

  The works will be between the Longmoor Interchange and Liss Interchange and include renewing the high-friction surfacing and road markings.

  There will be overnight, 9pm to 6am, closures between Longmoor Interchange and Liss Interchange from 10 February to 15 March. Two weekend closures will also be needed, northbound 9pm 21 February to 6am 24 February, and southbound, 9pm 28 February to 6am 3 March.

  Traffic management will be arranged in phases to try to limit disruption as much as possible but please plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time for your journeys.

  • Northbound carriageway closure between Liss Interchange and Ham Barn Roundabout, with local access only between Sheet Link/Midhurst Junction and Liss Interchange.
  • For night closures on 10 February to 14 February, 17 February to 19 February, 10 March to 11 March.
  • For weekend closure 21 February to 24 February.
