Tackling dangerous driving behaviour
We want to encourage motorists to think about their driving and be safe on our roads. This means tackling dangerous driving behaviour. Operation Tramline is one way we do this - using HGV camera cabs in targeted multi-agency operations across England.

Emergency area width review
In March 2020, the Secretary of State for Transport published the Smart motorway evidence stocktake and action plan. The plan included an action to review all existing emergency areas and to widen any which were less than the current standard, if feasible and appropriate.
