Customer and communities

Society relies on our road network for work journeys and home deliveries, visits to friends and family, holidays and the goods and services we all depend on.

Customer and communities

Society relies on our road network for work journeys and home deliveries, visits to friends and family, holidays, and the goods and services we all depend on.

As technology and travel evolves, this fund is helping us look beyond road journeys to do more for our customers and neighbours.

Through this fund, we aim to work more closely with local community groups and local planning authorities.

The Customer and Communities Designated Fund aligns closely with our customer service strategy, ‘Making a difference for our customers’ and Active travel commitments.

Funding opportunity - freight and roadside facilities

We're specifically looking to work with partners who can help us support our ambitions to increase parking, and improve the welfare, security and safety of lorry drivers who use our network. If you represent a truck stop operator or motorway service area and are seeking funding to support your initiative, please complete our expression of interest form:

Priority areas

Outside of our funded partnerships, we're working on projects such as:

Access and inclusion — looking at how we ensure our roads and services are inclusive to everyone, to enable road users and communities to use our network independently, confidently and safely

Active travel — to enable everyone to have safe and seamless journeys when walking, cycling or horse-riding, unlocking choice for short trips across and along the Strategic Road Network (SRN)

Community investment — investing in small-scale initiatives which add value to the communities affected by our work

Freight and roadside facilities — helping road users know what facilities are available along their route and support improvements to the provision of information on what to expect at roadside facilities

Integration — improving SRN connectivity with other networks to support travel choice

While we can’t currently commit to other funding opportunities, please contact us using the form above with any proposals for us to consider in the future.
