UPDATE A1033 Salt End to Somerden/Marfleet Westbound resurfacing and eastbound road painting

Following a recent scheme to resurface the A1033 Salt End to Somerden, we need to return to complete snagging work from Monday 11 December 2023, for one week.

To reduce the impact on customers, all existing traffic management will be removed until we return in December when we will work overnight under a road closure between 8pm and 6am.

A fully signed diversion will be in place.

Thank you for your patience while we complete these essential repairs.

A1033 Salt End to Somerden/Marfleet Westbound resurfacing and eastbound road painting

We’re carrying out essential maintenance work on the A1033 from Salt End Roundabout to the junction with Marfleet Roundabout.

What are we doing and when?

We need to renew the road surface on the A1033. At the same time, we plan to replace the road markings and studs along the route.

We start this work on Monday 16 October 2023 and aim to finish on Friday 17 November 2023. We will be working overnight when the road is less busy, between the hours of 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday.

    Closures and Diversions

To complete this work safely, we will close the carriageway in stages overnight to reduce the impact on residents and drivers.

 Westbound will be closed from Salt End roundabout to Somerden roundabout.
Monday 16 October to Wednesday 25 October.

 Westbound will be closed from Salt End roundabout to Marfleet roundabout
including Somerden roundabout, Thursday 26 October to Friday 10 November.

 Eastbound will be closed from Somerden Roundabout to Salt End roundabout –
Friday, Monday, Tuesday 10, 13 and 14 November.

 Eastbound Lane 1 will be closed from Somerden Roundabout to Salt End
    roundabout – Wednesday, Thursday Friday, 15 – 17 November

A fully signed diversion will be in place; this has been agreed in advance with the local council and the police. We are aware that these will extend journey times and ask customers to allow more time to reach their destination.

 Westbound traffic – non-HGV – leave Salt End Roundabout onto Staithes Road,
onto Wyton Road B2340, Preston Road B1239, then Main Road onto A165 then
back to Marfleet Roundabout A1033 via Maybury Road, Marfleet Lane.

 Westbound Traffic – HGV avoiding restrictions in Preston - leave Salt End
Roundabout onto Staithes Road, onto Weghill Road, B1362 onto Daisy Hill
Road, Newfield Lane and Lelley Road joining Wyton Road B2340, Preston Road
B1239, then Main Road onto A165 then back to Marfleet Roundabout A1033 via
    Maybury Road, Marfleet Lane.

 Eastbound – as above, in reverse.

    How will this impact me?

If your business or property has direct access onto the A1033 with no other available access, our traffic management team will escort you through the closure when it is safe to do so. If you can, please try to limit vehicle movements while we carry out this work.

We are mindful that our work will cause disruption in the area with extended journey times for motorway traffic and we apologise in advance for this inconvenience. We are also aware of other work taking place at Castle Street have worked around these projects in our planning.

Some of the machinery we use will be noisy and there is likely to be an increase in traffic noise in residential areas as we have limited options for diversions; we aim to complete this work as quickly and as safely as possible to limit disturbance to communities.

A63 Brighton Street slip roads and roundabout

We're realigning two A63 exit slip roads, westbound and eastbound near Brighton Street roundabout for improved safety at the junction, leading to safer journeys.

    • Vegetation clearance on the A63 exit slip roads and crown lifting on the roundabout

We aim to start work on Monday 16th October working overnight Monday to Friday 8 pm until 6am and aim to complete by 19 December.
