    Working within the existing roadworks

The hard shoulder of this stretch will be closed off and a 50mph speed limit near the works will be in place 24 hours a day. Narrow lanes will be in place.

We're doing this work alongside the delivery of additional emergency areas on the M3 between junctions 2 and 4a. By doing both pieces of work at the same time we expect to keep disruption to a minimum.

We’ll extend the existing traffic management on the M3 eastbound carriageway by approximately three kilometres, which will enable us to complete these important works now and reduce the overall need for roadworks in the future.

Project information

Overview

To help improve the quality of water as it is drained away from the carriageway, we’re installing an additional 500 metres of new drainage and a new filtration system on the M3 eastbound carriageway, just after junction 2.

This work will improve drainage with the consequent safety improvements and it will also improve the quality of the water which drains off into St. Ann's lake.
