Footbridge replacements set to begin over A259 in Bexhill-on-Sea
The first footbridge connects Lychgates Close and Church Street and the second footbridge connects Hastings Road, over A259 King Offa Way.
During the works there will be a 24/7 lane closure in both directions on the A259. There will also be overnight carriageway closures, and we’ll need to close both carriageways over two full weekends.
Whilst the footbridges are being replaced there will be pedestrian diversion routes.
Phase one:
Removal of footbridges
Full weekend closure to the A259 in both directions between the junctions with the A269.
- Friday 5 September (8pm) to Monday 8 September (6am)
Phase two:
Installation of lane one closure
Overnight closure to the A259 in both directions- Monday 8 September (for four nights)
Phase three:
Installation of footbridges
Full weekend closure to the A259 in both directions between the junctions with the A269.- Friday 28 November (8pm) to Monday 1 December (6am)
Diversions:
A259 full weekend and overnight diversion:
Eastbound traffic will be diverted via:- A269
- Upper Sea Road
- Magdalen Road
- A269 to rejoin the A259
Westbound traffic will be diverted via:
- A269
- Magdalen Road
- Upper Sea Road
- A269 to rejoin the A259
