A303 Weyhill to Longparish and Thruxton, Hampshire, resurfacing

We are carrying out essential resurfacing on the A303 near Andover in Hampshire.

Start date Tuesday 28 January 2025
End date Friday 30 May 2025, with further phases to follow over the next three years.
Cost Approximately £15million over the next three years.

    Essential resurfacing starts soon

    Essential resurfacing starts soon on the A303 near Andover in Hampshire.

    We will be working 9pm to 6am to try to limit disruption to traffic as much as possible. At Thruxton, just west of Andover, this will be on Tuesday 28 January to Thursday 30 January (three nights).

    The closure will be from the A342 Weyhill/Monxton junction westbound to the A338 Parkhouse Cross junction, with a diversion via Ludgershall, Tidworth and Shipton Bellinger.

    There will also be resurfacing on both carriageways of the A303 between Weyhill and Longparish in Hampshire.

    Closures and diversions

    The work is being phased to try to limit disruption to traffic as much as possible.

    The first will involve full overnight closures of the A303. 

    Closures, 9pm to 6am, will be:

    Monday 3 February to Friday 7 March (5 weeks) 
    • Closures of the A303 westbound between the Picket Twenty junction and the Weyhill/Monxton junction
    • The diversion will go via the Andover ring-road.
    Monday 10 March for 9 nights 
    • Closures of the A303 eastbound between the Weyhill/Monxton junction and the Picket Twenty junction.
    • The diversion will go via the Andover ring-road
    Friday 21 March to Friday 4 April (11 nights) 
    • Closures of the A303 westbound between the Picket Twenty junction and the Weyhill/Monxton junction
    • The diversion will go via the Andover ring-road
    Monday 7 April for 6 nights
    • Closures of the A303 westbound from A34 Bullington Cross junction to the Picket Twenty junction
    • The diversion will go via Sutton Scotney, Stockbridge and the A3057 to Andover
    Tuesday 6 May to Friday 30 May (18 nights)
    • Closures of the A303 westbound from A34 Bullington Cross junction to the Picket Twenty junction
    • The diversion will go via Sutton Scotney, Stockbridge and the A3057 to Andover

    Diversions:

    A303 westbound Andover ring-road
    • Exit at Picket Twenty junction, follow the A3093 Churchill Way
    • At Enham Arch roundabout, take the second exit onto A3057
    • At Folly roundabout take the third exit onto A343 Redon Way
    • Continue on the A343 to Weyhill and rejoin the A303
    A303 eastbound Andover ring-road
    • Exit at the Weyhill/Monxton junction, take the second exit onto the A343
    • Continue on the A343 and at the Folly roundabout take the second exit onto the A3057
    • At the Enham Arch roundabout, take the third exit onto A3093 Churchill Way
    • Follow the A3057 to Picket Twenty and rejoin the A303
    A303 westbound Bullington to Picket Twenty (Andover)
    • Exit at Bullington Cross, travel to Sutton Scotney
    • Take the A30 to Stockbridge
    • Then travel north on the A3057 to Andover to rejoin the A303 at the Winchester Road junction
