    Essential resurfacing work starts soon

We need to carry out some essential resurfacing work and will do this overnight, 8pm to 6am, to try to minimise inconvenience for road users as much as possible.

Week one: Monday 11 November to Friday 15 November, five nights, closure of A27 eastbound at Carden Avenue to the A270.

Week two: Monday 18 November to Friday 22 November, five nights, closure of A27 eastbound at Carden Avenue to A270.

Week three: Monday 25 November to Thursday 28 November, four nights, A27 eastbound exit slip closed, up to Carden Avenue.

Week four: Monday 2 December to Friday 6 December, five nights - A27 westbound carriageway closed at A270 to Carden Avenue.

Week five: Monday 9 December to Thursday 12 December, four nights, A27 westbound carriageway closed at A270 to Carden Avenue.

The project will also need some further closures early next year and we will update this web page when details are confirmed.

    Diversions

Week one and two: Eastbound traffic to exit at Patcham Interchange and join A23, southbound, London Road towards Brighton. Use A270 to head northbound back towards A27 and rejoin A27 at B2123 Falmer.

Week three: Eastbound traffic to continue eastbound and exit at B2123 Falmer and use the junction to turn back round to head A27 westbound.

Week four and five: Westbound traffic to exit at A270 and head southbound towards Brighton. Then turn right at St Peter’s Place to join London Road and head northbound and rejoin A27 at Patcham Interchange.

Project information

Overview

The project involves essential resurfacing work on the A27 from Carden Avenue to the A270, eastbound and westbound, and the A27 eastbound Carden exit slip road. The bridge joints at Coldean Lane Bridge will also be replaced as part of the renewal scheme.

A new road surface, on the A27 from Carden Avenue to the A270, eastbound and westbound, and the A27 eastbound Carden exit slip road. This will reduce the need for future, smaller-scale repairs, with their associated inconvenience for road users.
