Works starting in July
We’ll soon be starting repairs and maintenance to the A27 bridge that goes over Wade Court Road between Havant and Emsworth.
Works will be undertaken in two phases and include the replacing bridge joints, waterproofing, resurfacing, and replacement of the central concrete barrier.
To undertake these works safely, there will be narrow lanes with a 50mph speed limit in place. There will also be overnight closures between 9pm to 6am and full directional weekend carriageway closures.
Phase one
Narrow lanes installation and removal dates
- 8 July for one night eastbound closed to install narrow lanes with a 50mph speed restriction
(10 July is contingency shift) - 9 July for one night westbound closed to install narrow lanes with a 50mph speed restriction
(11 July is contingency shift) - 8 August for one night eastbound closed to remove narrow lanes
- 9 August for one night westbound closed to remove narrow lanes
Westbound overnight closures
- Wednesday 10 July to Friday 9 August
Eastbound overnight closures
- Friday 12 July for one night
- Saturday 27 for two nights
- Monday 5 August for one night
Phase two
Full eastbound weekend closure
- 9pm Friday 13 September to 6am Monday 16 September
- Followed by 4 overnight closures from the 16 September until 19 September
Full westbound weekend closure
- 9pm Friday 20 September to 6am Monday 23 September
- Followed by 4 overnight closures from the 23 September until 26 September
Diversion for traffic in both directions
Eastbound traffic will be diverted via Park Road South, Park Road North, B2149, Bartons Road, Horndean Road, Southleigh Road and Emsworth Road.
Westbound traffic will follow the same route in the opposite direction.

Project information
To extend the life of the bridge, we'll be carrying out essential maintenance and repairs which includes replacement of waterproofing, bridge joints, safety barrier and surfacing. This work is weather dependent so needs to take place during the summer months and will be carried out under a combination of narrow lanes and full weekend closures.
