Skills Hubs

We are commissioning new Skills Hubs in Essex and Kent which will open their doors from 2025 onwards to offer free training and guaranteed job interviews with local suppliers.

Our new Skills Hubs will help tackle industry skills shortages and meet our local workforce and training targets through short courses and accredited training to give participants recognised qualifications and hands-on experience to get them upskilled or ready for the world of work.

We will set up dedicated Skills Hubs in Gravesham, Kent and Thurrock, Essex to open up thousands of training and job opportunities for local people. This not only supports the delivery of the Lower Thames Crossing, but also the wider construction industry. A particular focus will be on delivering low carbon construction skills, enhancing existing accredited courses to support the industry’s transition to net zero.

Our Skills Hubs will bring together local employers, colleges, charities, and government to deliver:

  • Pre-employment training and upskilling
  • Technical qualifications
  • Clear job pathways
  • Tailored support for those furthest from work
