Join our Ex-military Introduction to Construction course in Gravesham
A free pre-employment course for military veterans, delivered by The Skills Centre in partnership with the Lower Thames Crossing and Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE)
Are you a military leaver or veteran interested in starting a career in construction? No previous experience is needed.
The Lower Thames Crossing will create work for thousands of people during construction, with almost half of roles filled by people living within 20 miles of the route.
To support this, we’re working in partnership with The Skills Centre to deliver a free, introduction to construction course for ex-military participants at the Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hub in Gravesham.
The course is designed to help build confidence, develop practical skills, and support the transition into civilian employment.

Who is this course for?
This course is for military leavers and veterans who are interested in construction and want to take their first step into the industry. It’s suitable for those transitioning into civilian careers, returning to work, or considering a career change. No previous construction experience is needed.
How and when will I know if I have a place?
Enrolment takes place on Thursday 16 April.
The training provider will contact applicants before this date to confirm whether they have been offered a place.
How many places are available?
There are around 15 places available on this course. In line with previous courses, more people may enroll than attend on the first day.
Is it first come, first served?
No. Places are not allocated on a first come, first served basis. The training provider will carry out a vetting and selection process to make sure the course is right for each applicant.
What happens if the course fills up?
If this course fills up, don’t worry. We’ll be running introduction to construction courses and Skills Bootcamps on a monthly basis at the Lower Thames Crossing Skills Hub.
If I don’t get a place on this course, can I still apply for other courses?
Yes. If you’re not offered a place on this course, you can still apply for future introduction to construction courses and Skills Bootcamps delivered at the Skills Hub.
