Current Lower Thames Crossing works
Ground investigation surveys
Where: On the land previously used by Southern Valley Golf Club and adjacent private fields.
From: October 2024
To: Mid-January 2025
Subject to favourable weather conditions. Preparatory activities such as mobilising welfare facilities may start before.
The surveys will help us to identify the geology of the soil, obtain samples and carry out tests.
What to expect:
- Movement of vehicles and equipment (such as tripod rigs, welfare) brought to site on a low loader or trailer
- Drilling rigs being used to drill the boreholes Engineers and surveyors in high-visibility clothing
- The working hours will be 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
- All drilling activities will take place inside a temporary fenced area, using free standing, self-supporting fence panels (“Heras fencing”)
Our works will not affect public rights of way, which will remain open throughout this time.
Repair works
Where: Northern section of Hole Farm Lane.
From: Week commencing 10 February 2025
To: 14 February 2025
Works are expected to last two days (weather permitting).
These are planned repair works and will involve filling in craters.
What to expect:
- This disruption will be temporary and is expected to last two days, allowing the repair to cure, after which the barriers will be removed.
- It will require the width of the bridleway to be temporarily reduced, horse riders will still have full access during this period.
Drainage Surveys
Where: Park Pale Road / Brewers Road – Shorne Woods Country Park end
From: 10 February 2025
For one night from 20:00 - 06:00
What to expect:
- Three-way Temporary Traffic Lights and Permanent Pedestrian Crossing replaced with temporary crossing during surveys.
- Road will still be open to traffic with lane closures with Temporary Traffic lights in place.
Drainage Surveys
Where: Park Pale Road
From: 11 February 2025
To: 15 February 2025
For four nights, from 20:00 – 05:00 each night
What to expect:
- Two and three way temporary traffic lights.
- The surveys will help us identify and assess drainage systems.
- The surveys will start at Brewers Road (Shorne Woods Country Park end) and will gradually move along Park Pale Road.
- Both roads will remain open to traffic with lane closures and temporary traffic lights in place.
