Habitat creation & enhancement works, land East of Thong Lane

Skanska, on behalf of National Highways, will soon be starting work to create new ecological habitat within the land to the east of Thong Lane.
These works are taking place from 4 August 2025 and continuing until April 2026.
We are creating this habitat area to be sympathetic to the environment and natural beauty of the Thong area. When mature, the habitat will encourage wildlife to flourish.
There will be some machinery and small site cabins present for about six months to complete the work.
The Public Right of Way will be affected in the short term to allow the work to progress without risk to the public. It will be returned to normal use as soon as possible.
The design for the new habitat is sympathetic to the environment and the natural beauty of the Thong area. We will manage and maintain the space for the duration of the construction project before a suitable long term management partner is appointed.
This means that the mature ecological habitat will encourage wildlife to flourish. We will ensure that the land is preserved and cannot be used for other development, so it will be there for future generations to enjoy.
