Transforming LGBTQ+ Visibility and Support in Thurrock

A huge step forward for LGBTQ+ inclusivity, thanks to funding from the Lower Thames Crossing Community Fund

The Thurrock LGBTQ+ Community Network has made a real difference in Thurrock, creating safe spaces and hosting events that bring people together, break down stereotypes, and help boost mental health - all made possible with funding from the Lower Thames Crossing Community Fund.

The Network created a programme of monthly social events, giving the LGBTQ+ community in Thurrock a regular, safe place to meet, share experiences, and make friends.

Through partnering with Thameside Theatre, the network was able to bring these gatherings to the heart of the local community, making LGBTQ+ visibility part of everyday life.

A Halloween Party at Thameside Theatre was one of the events which brought the community together for an unforgettable night of fun and connection. It wasn’t just about costumes and dancing; it was a space where everyone could let loose without fear of judgment. People left the party feeling celebrated, supported, and connected.

Beyond socialising, these gatherings combat isolation, boost mental health, and offer a sense of belonging and hope in a community where many feel invisible, while also challenging stereotypes and showcasing true inclusivity.
