A new space for rabbits, guinea pigs, and the community
Northfleet Community Farm creates room to care for more animals and welcome more visitors
Northfleet Community Farm, based at Northfleet School for Girls in Kent, built a brand-new space for small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, and its already making a huge difference.
A grant from the Lower Thames Crossing Community Fund helped the farm turn an empty area into a covered shelter with secure walls, flooring, water and electricity.
What’s been funded?
- A new area for small animals: The farm built a new space for rabbits and guinea pigs
- An empty space transformed: The grant helped turn an empty area into a covered shelter with secure walls, flooring, water and electricity.
- More room for animals: The new space has freed up room for other animals and made it easier to run activities.
The new enclosure has freed up space for the farm’s other animals and made it easier to run fun and educational activities.
Since opening, more than 1,000 visitors, including 300 local school students, have enjoyed the new area. Teachers have enjoyed it too, with one saying, "This is a fantastic space, and we’ll definitely bring more students back to visit."
The space has also helped the farm host fully booked workshops for schools, giving children a chance to learn and interact with the animals up close. On top of that, a local care home is now bringing its residents to enjoy time with the animals, something the farm couldn’t do before.
Thanks to the new space, the farm can welcome more people, care for more animals, and give the community even better experiences. It’s been a big success for everyone involved!
