Wheels in motion – Cyclo Park’s new skills area inspires all
Building confidence, connection, and community through cycling in Gravesend.
Cyclo Park Trust, a registered charity in Gravesend, has taken a leap forward in its mission to make cycling accessible for everyone.
Thanks to a grant from the Lower Thames Crossing Community Fund, its been able to create a brand new bike skills area and tunnel that benefits children, young people, and adults of all abilities.
This project has turned its vision of a vibrant, inclusive community hub into a reality, giving local people the chance to get active, gain confidence, and learn vital cycling skills.
What’s been funded?
- A dedicated bike skills area: This safe, purpose-built space is perfect for learning basic bike handling, practicing advanced skills, and even trying fun tricks like wheelies and bunny hops.
- Improved coaching programs: New training courses and individual coaching sessions now cater to all skill levels, from beginners to elite cyclists.
- Adapted space for everyone: Features such as widened ramps and adaptable surfaces make it accessible for both regular and adaptive bikes, ensuring inclusivity for riders with physical or mental disabilities.
- Improved after-school clubs: Its popular sessions for 7-16 year-olds now have access to great facilities, boosting confidence and skill-building on and off-road.
Cyclo Park Trust has already seen the impact of this new funding. Parents have shared stories of their children growing in confidence, young cyclists are pushing themselves to new levels, and people with disabilities are enjoying the freedom and fun of cycling like never before.
With this new facility, Cyclo Park Trust is no t just teaching people to ride bikes, it’s building a healthier, happier, and more inclusive community.
