Helping kids ride towards health and happiness

BikeKlubz helps children enjoy weekly cycling sessions that build confidence and improve fitness

Thanks to funding from the Lower Thames Crossing Community Fund, Trailnet is helping children and young people aged from four to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Warley, Essex.

Through its BikeKlubz programme, children enjoy weekly cycling sessions that build confidence, improve fitness, and create opportunities to make friends.

What has been funded?

  • Weekly BikeKlubz sessions
  • Participation of 20 children and young people in 130 rides.
  • Support from nine dedicated volunteers contributing 142 hours of ride leader time.
  • Access to safe, guided cycling for participants from Essex, East London, Thurrock, and Southend.

Trailnet focuses on making cycling accessible for everyone, promoting healthy lifestyles, and protecting the environment. Parents and carers see the difference BikeKlubz makes.

Parents and foster carers shared how the sessions provide valuable support for their families.  The sessions improve the physical and emotional well-being of their children, giving them something to look forward to, while they learn new skills.

BikeKlubz is more than a cycling group, it’s a place where young people with SEND can grow, connect, and thrive.

With support and grants from organisations, Trailnet plans to keep the programme rolling toward a brighter, healthier future.
