What is the Community Fund?
The Community Fund provides grants to projects that strengthen communities, improve wellbeing, protect the environment and create skills and employment in areas near the Lower Thames Crossing.
Who can apply?
Applications are welcome from:
- Registered charities
- Voluntary and community organisations
- Parish councils
- Social enterprises
If you’re unsure whether your organisation is eligible, your local Community Foundation can advise before you apply.
What types of projects are supported?
We support projects that align with one or more of the following themes:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Local skills and employment
- Connecting communities
- Environment and green spaces
Projects should demonstrate clear, lasting benefits for local people.
Where must projects benefit?
Projects must benefit residents living in eligible wards close to the Lower Thames Crossing, in Gravesham, Medway, Thurrock, Havering or Brentwood.
Projects do not need to be located within these wards, but they must clearly benefit people who live there.

How much funding is available?
- You can apply for up to £10,000 per application
- £1.89 million will be available during construction, spread across seven annual funding rounds
- You can submit one application per funding round. If unsuccessful, or if you applied during the pilot fund in 2023, you may apply again in future rounds.
