Work this year: Orsett and Little Thurrock Blackshots

We’re setting up new compounds that will include offices, facilities for workers, and storage for materials, machinery and vehicles

These compounds will initially support local archaeological digging, ground and utility surveys, as well as habitat creation work. We have a small  compound north of Long Lane in Little Thurrock Blackshots and will be setting up a larger compound north of Stifford Clays Road, west of Fen Lane, this spring.
Later this year, we’ll also be creating a special vehicle access and haul road so that construction  vehicles can get to our site directly from the A13.

What to expect

  • Surveys and habitat creation works locally
  • Overnight closures while we build new vehicle access points

Stifford Clays Road site compound

  • Around 60 deliveries per day
  • Construction vehicles temporarily using Stifford Clays Road, High Road and Fen Lane
  • Majority of construction vehicles accessing the site via the A13 once new internal access and haul road is complete, from early 2027
  • Lane / road closures for underground utility surveys and diversion work

Long Lane site compound

  • A second welfare cabin added in the spring to support archaeological digging
  • Vehicle access via Stanford Road, including overnight closure for access works

A13 vehicle access and staff parking

  • Overnight lane closures on A13 while creating access and haul roads to link our site with the A13
  • Haul road in use from early 2027
  • Area to include parking for staff for the Stifford Clays compound (with internal shuttle services to and from compound)
