Work this year: East Tilbury
We’re setting up new compounds that will include offices, facilities for workers, and storage for materials, machinery and vehicles
We’re also carrying out ecological surveys and ground investigations, archaeology work, and creating new habitats for local wildlife.
We have a site compound north of Station Road and this summer will start setting up the northern tunnel entrance site compound, which will support construction of the new tunnel.
What to expect
- Surveys and habitat creation works locally
- Between 20-60 deliveries per day depending on the work location
- Construction vehicles using Station Road and Princess Margaret Road to access sites
- Construction vehicles using temporary access track from this spring for works west of Coalhouse Fort (instead of Princess Margaret Road)
- Overnight closures on Station Road while we build the remaining vehicle access points for the northern tunnel entrance site
- New vehicle access made in summer via Substation Road (traffic travelling via A1089 and Fort Road) to reduce construction vehicles on local roads
