Work

We’re patching the exit slip of A1081. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother road surface.

Closure

We’ll work overnight (10pm to 5am) on Monday 3 February, weather permitting.

To work safely, we'll need the following closure.

  • A1081 eastbound/M1 junction 10 to Newlands Road 

Diversion

If you want to travel northbound to exit at junction 10 to join the A1081 eastbound:

  • continue to the M1 junction 11
  • at Dunstable Road Roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the M1 southbound,
  • return to junction 10
  • from there, use the left-hand lane to merge onto the A1081 eastbound carriage, where the diversion ends

Work

We've started resurfacing work on the A1 southbound between Buckden and Diddington in St. Neots. Once done, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface. 

Closures and diversions

We plan to complete this work over five nights between Monday 27 to Friday 31 January.

We will work between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting. 

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1 southbound and divert traffic as detailed below: 

  • Traffic wishing to use the A1 southbound will be diverted from the Buckden Roundabout to the Brampton Hut Interchange
  • Take the fourth exit and head southbound on the A1, before merging onto the A14 at junction 22
  • Remain on the A14 eastbound to junction 23 and follow the A1198 to the A428
  • Then head westbound on the A428 and re-join the A1 at Wyboston

We're surveying the A1 between Fletton Parkway Interchange (Peterborough Services) and Wansford.

Surveys will help us plan future repairs or improvements to the road. 

We'll work over four nights between Friday 24 January and Wednesday 29 January 2025. We'll work overnight (9pm to 5am) on weeknights only, weather permitting. 

Closures and diversions 

To work safely, we need to close the A1, and divert traffic. 

For traffic travelling northbound on the A1(M) to the A1:

  • exit the A1(M) at junction 17 and follow the road round to the right to join the A1139.
  • follow the A1139 to Hampton Roundabout and turn left onto Nene Parkway (A1260) 
  • then join the A47 at Thorpe Wood Interchange. Rejoin the A1 at Wansford Interchange

Traffic travelling southbound will follow the same diversion as above, but in reverse.

We’re doing manhole cover repairs on the A1(M) junction 6 northbound entry slip road at The Clock at Welwyn in Hertfordshire on Tuesday 28 January between 9pm and 5am, weather permitting.

  • Travel southbound to junction 4 at Stanborough
  • turn around and continue your journey northbound on the A1(M)

We're performing resurfacing and drainage work on the A5 between Thorn Roundabout and the Flying Fox Roundabout.

We'll work overnight (8pm to 6am) between Monday 6 January and Saturday 11 January 2025, weather permitting

For the northbound diversion: 

  • turn left off the Dunstable Northern Bypass (A5) onto Watling Street 
  • turn right at the next roundabout to join the A505
  • continue following the A505 to Billington Road Roundabout and take the second exit, straight onto the A4146
  • continue on the A4146 to Kelly’s Kitchen Roundabout and turn right to rejoin the A5 heading back towards the Flying Fox Roundabout

We've begun the next stage of our project to upgrade street lighting along the A12 between junctions 11 and 16 to more energy efficient LED lighting.  

Phase three of our work is taking place over 7 nights from Thursday 30 January. 

We'll work overnight (9pm and 5am) on weeknights only, weather conditions permitting. 

We've designed this schedule minimise disruption to road users.  

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we carry out these essential works.  

To work safely, we'll close sections of the A12 including exit and entry slips between junction 12 and 16.

Traffic will be directed to exit at junction 12 (Mountnessing Roundabout) and follow the A1023 southbound, continuing to M25 junction 28 where they can continue their journey.

A12 northbound between junctions 12 and 14 - 13 January to 14 January

Traffic will exit the northbound A12 at Junction 12 via the slip road, proceed along the B1002 (Roman Road), and rejoin the A12 at Junction 15.

Traffic will continue southbound, exit at Junction 11, and use the M25 interchange to turn around and rejoin the northbound A12.

Traffic will be redirected at junction 12. Road users should take the northbound A12 via the junction 12 entry slip road, exit at junction 14, turn around, and then rejoin the southbound A12 using the junction 14 entry slip road.

We plan to do resurfacing work on the A12 Old London Road in Marks Tey, near junction 25 of the A12 in Essex. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.

Monday 3 February, 9:30am to 3.30pm: A12 Old London Road closed 

Traffic wishing to join the A12/A120 from Old London Road and Coggeshall will exit Old London Road (A12 side) and join the A12 northbound and exit at junction 25 (Marks Tey) before joining the A120 westbound and the A12 eastbound.

Traffic wishing to join from the A12 between Dobbies Lane and Coggeshall Road will continue on the A12 northbound, exit the at junction 25, turn left on to the A120, and enter the at Old London Road from Coggleshall Road.

If you want to travel to junction 22 from junction 24:

  • travel westbound on the A1307
  • at the Godmanchester Interchange (A1307 junction 24) take the first exit onto A1198
  • follow the A1198 for approximately 6.3 miles, passing around Papworth Everard
  • at the Caxton Gibbet Roundabout, take the third exit onto the A428 Cambridge Road
  • continue on the A428 for approximately 8.5 miles
  • at the Wyboston Roundabout, take the first exit onto Great North Road, stay on the right-hand lane and merge onto the A1
  • continue on the A1 until reaching the Brampton Hut Interchange, where the diversion ends
Motorway traffic diversion

Overhead signs will provide diversion information for traffic travelling westbound to junction 22 which will start from junction 31.

  • Merge onto the A428 and continue for 16.5 miles
  • at the Wyboston Roundabout, take the first exit onto Great North Road, stay on the right-hand lane and merge onto the A1
  • continue on the A1 until reaching the Brampton Hut Interchange, where the diversion ends

  • continue on the A428 for approximately 16.6 miles and merge back onto the A14 eastbound
  • the diversion ends for A14 eastbound traffic

If you want to travel back to junction 24:

  • take the exit slip at A14 eastbound junction 32
  • at the roundabout take the fourth exit to join the A14 westbound

We're repairing the bridge at junction 59, Kirton Interchange of the A14 near Felixstowe. This will ensure the A14 continues to remain in a safe and serviceable condition.

To work safely, we'll close the west side of Kirton Interchange at junction 59 of the A14 southbound from Trimley St Martin.

  • take the third exit at Seven Hills Interchange to rejoin the A14 southbound

We'll work overnight (8pm to 6am) from Monday 13 January to Wednesday 15 January 2025, weather permitting.

  • exit at junction 47
  • at the roundabout, take the third exit onto the A1088
  • at the Woolpit Interchange, take the first exit to stay on the A1088
  • take the first left turn onto Norton Road heading south, passing Tostock Animal Parks
  • at the T-junction, turn right onto The Street and merge onto the A14 where the diversion ends

We’re repairing the A421 westbound Marsh Leys exit slip road near Kempston, Bedford. 

The road will be closed for one night on Tuesday 4 February 2025 between 1(0pm and 5am), weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To work safely, we will close the A421 westbound Marsh Leys exit slip road and divert traffic:

  • westbound traffic will need to continue on the A421 to Marston Moretaine Roundabout
  • at the first roundabout, take the third exit onto Beancroft Road
  • at the second roundabout, take the third exit to join the eastbound carriageway of the A421.

We’re performing essential maintenance work on a section of the A421 between the A603 (Cardington Road) / A421 Roundabout and the Black Cat Roundabout.

Work will take place over two weeks, from Monday 13 January 2025 to Saturday 25 January 2025.

We'll work overnight (8pm to 6am) on weeknights only, weather permitting.

Road Closures and Diversions

To work safely, we'll close the A421 eastbound between the A603 / A421 Roundabout and the Black Cat Roundabout.

A diversion route will be in place as follows:

  • Exit the A421 at the A603 / A421 Roundabout, taking the 4th exit onto the A603.
  • Follow the A603 (Bedford / Sandy Road) to Sandy Roundabout.
  • At Sandy Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A1 and continue to the Black Cat Roundabout to rejoin your journey.

We’re resurfacing the A47 Wansford Interchange near Wansford. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface. 

We’ll work overnight (8pm to 6am) Monday to Thursday, subject to weather.

To work safely, we need to close Wansford Interchange on the A47 and the A1 off slip road. 

If you’re travelling eastbound:

  • exit the A47 at Duddington Roundabout onto the A43
  • follow the A43 and join the A1 northbound (Great North Road)
  • take the next exit off the A1 and then turn right onto the A6121
  • exit the A6121 and rejoin the A1 southbound
  • follow the A1 southbound to Wansford Interchange and rejoin the A47 

Eastbound diversion route

If you’re traveling westbound:

  • exit the A47 at Wansford Interchange onto the A1 southbound
  • follow the A1 southbound to Fletton Parkway Interchange
  • take the fifth exit at the roundabout back onto the A1 northbound 
    continue on the A1 before exiting at Tinwell
  • turn right onto the A6121
  • exit the A6121 and rejoin the A1 southbound
  • exit the A1 onto the A43 (Kettering Road) southbound
  • continue on the A43 to Duddington Roundabout
  • rejoin the A47 at Duddington Roundabout

We'll install temporary traffic lights on the eastbound carriageway of the A47 at King's Lynn between Pullover roundabout and Shoreboat roundabout

The traffic lights will operate from 8.30am until 4pm on Sunday 15 December.

The lights are needed for the safety of police officers who will be completing enquiries.

This may cause a slight delay to your journey. Please allow extra time. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We're performing remedial works on the A47 at the Necton junction.

  • drainage and verge work

Motorway traffic:
  • travel on the A47 heading towards Peterborough
  • turn around at Oversley Lodge Roundabout and follow the A47
  • at Littlewood Roundabout, take the second exit to stay on the A47
  • at Welland Road Roundabout, take the second exit to continue on the A47
  • at Dogsthorpe Roundabout, take the first exit onto the A15 Paston Parkway
  • at Eye Roundabout, take the fourth exit onto the A1139 Frank Perkins Parkway / Fletton Parkway
  • continue on the A1139 to join the A1(M)
  • take the southbound exit at A1(M) junction 17 and continue southbound to the A1307 slip road
  • at Spittals Interchange, take the first exit onto the A141
  • continue on the A14 (March Road) until you reach the A47 which is where the diversion ends

  • from A1139 Fletton Parkway Junction 3, follow the A1260 and join the A15 through Yaxley
  • continue on the A15 London Road to Norman Cross
  • at Norman Cross, take the second exit onto the B1043

  • at Yards End Roundabout, take the second exit to remain on the B1043
  • continue on the B1043 to Ermine Street and take the exit onto the A1307
  • at Spittals Interchange on the A1307, follow the slip road to join the main diversion route

We're surveying the A47 between Dogsthorpe Roundabout and Eye Green Roundabout to check the condition of the road. This helps us plan future maintenance.

If you want to travel eastbound on the A47 through Thorney:

  • exit at junction 20, Dogsthorpe Roundabout onto Paston Parkway (A15)
  • at Eye Roundabout, turn right onto Frank Perkins Parkway (A1139) and then exit at junction 3a onto the A605
  • continue on the A605 and follow to the A141
  • join the A141 northbound before rejoining the A47 at Guyhirn Roundabout. 

If you want to travel westbound through Thorney, follow this diversion in reverse.

A47 Welland Road Roundabout to Eye Green Roundabout diversion route.

We're resurfacing the A47 between Wisbech and King’s Lynn.

We'll work overnight (8pm to 6am) from Wednesday 22 January pm to Saturday 25 January 2025 am, weather permitting.

To work safely, we'll close the A47 between Wisbech Roundabout and Pullover Roundabout.

If you're travelling westbound on the A47, you will

  • exit at Harwick Roundabout onto the A10 southbound
  • continue on the A10 to Denver
  • turn right onto the A1122
  • follow straight onto the A1101
  • rejoin the A47 at Wisbech Roundabout

Traffic wishing to travel eastbound on the A47 will follow the same diversion as above, but in reverse.

  • Exit the A421 at Marsh Leys and head westbound on Woburn Road
  • at the roundabout continue straight onto Bedford Road
  • Then at the next roundabout take the third exit to rejoin the A421 at Martson Moretaine

  • follow to the A414
  • rejoin the M1 southbound at junction 8

We are upgrading streetlights to more energy efficient LED lighting at junction 8 of the M11 and the A120 fast link exit slip road near Stansted Airport and Bishops Stortford / Birchanger Services. 

Upgrading to LED lighting forms a key part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency. 

We start phase two of this work on Thursday 30 January 2025 for approximately 3 weeks.
