Resurfacing of the A47 between Guyhirn and New Cut Roundabout
As part of our work to resurface the A47 near Wisbech, we now need to return to finish the last section between Guyhirn Roundabout and New Cut Roundabout near Thorney.
Closures and diversions
We’ll work overnight for six weeks starting from Monday 2 February (8pm to 6am).
We'll also fully close the A47 for one weekend, from 8pm Saturday 28 February to 6am Sunday 1 March , weather permitting.
If you’re travelling eastbound on the A47 you will need to follow this diversion:
- exit the A47 at Littlewood Roundabout onto the A1139
- at Stanground Roundabout, join the A605 onto Whittlesey Road
- follow the A605 through Whittlesey to the A141
- turn left onto the A141 northbound, then rejoin the A47 at Guyhirn Roundabout
If you’re travelling westbound on the A47 you will need to follow the same diversion as above, but in reverse.

Resurfacing of A47 Elm High Road Roundabout and Pullover Roundabout
As part of our work to resurface the A47 near Wisbech, we are resurfacing Elm High Road Roundabout and Pullover Roundabout.
Closures and Diversions
We’re working weeknights only from Monday 19 to Thursday 22 January 2026 (8pm-6am), weather permitting.
If you’re heading north on Elm High Road towards Freedom Bridge Roundabout, follow this diversion:
- from Elm High Road Roundabout, take the first exit to stay on the A47
- continue to Redmoor Lane Roundabout, take the third exit onto Cromwell Road (B198)
- at the junction, turn onto Weasenham Lane
- continue to the Weasenham Lane/Elm High Road T junction
- re-join Elm High Road and continue your journey

If you’re travelling northbound on the A47 from Elm High Road Roundabout, follow this diversion:
- from Elm High Road Roundabout join the A1101
- before joining the A1122, continue onto the A10 towards Hardwick Roundabout
- from Hardwick Roundabout, re-join the A47 or use local routes to continue your journey

Access to the A47 northbound and A1101 southbound will still be maintained by a two way traffic light system.

Resurfacing of A47 Elm High Road (A1101)
As part of our work to resurface the A47 near Wisbech, we are resurfacing Elm High Road.
We’re working weeknights only from Monday 19 to Saturday 24 January 2026 (8pm to 6am), weather permitting.
Closures and Diversions
To work safely, we’ll need to close the roundabout and traffic from using the A1101 north for three nights.
Diversion route to Elm High Road:
- if you’re heading south on Elm High Road towards the A47 Elm High Road Roundabout, you’ll need to turn around and join Weasenham Lane
- at the first junction, turn left onto Cromwell Road (B198) and follow it to Redmoor Lane Roundabout
- at Redmoor Lane Roundabout, take the first exit onto the A47
- continue on the A47 until you reach Elm High Road Roundabout, where you can access Elm High Road
Northbound traffic follows the same diversion route but in reverse.
Two-way traffic lights will be in place at Elm High Road roundabout. This closure is in addition to the A47 closure between Elm Road roundabout and Pullover roundabout.

Resurfacing nears completion
We're resurfacing the A47 between Wisbech Roundabout (Wisbech) and Lynn Road Roundabout near King's Lynn.
We’ll be working weeknights from Monday 24 November 2025 to Saturday 17 January 2026 (8pm to 6am), weather permitting.
Closures and Diversions
To work safely, we’ll close the A47 in both directions between Wisbech Roundabout (Wisbech) and Pullover Roundabout, near King’s Lynn.
Eastbound diversion
Drivers travelling eastbound to King’s Lynn will need to:
- exit the A47 at Wisbech Roundabout onto the A1101
- continue on the A1101 to Downham Market
- then onto the A1122
- before joining the A10 to Hardwick Roundabout, Kings Lynn
- re-join the A47 to continue on your journey
Drivers travelling westbound will follow the same diversion as above, but in reverse.
Lynn Road Roundabout closure - Monday 12 January to Saturday 17 January 2026
As part of our work on the A47 near Wisbech, we need to resurface the Lynn Road Roundabout.
We’ll be working weeknights only from Monday 12 January to Saturday 17 January 2026 (8pm to 6am), weather permitting.
This closure is in addition to the A47 closure between Elm Roundabout and Pullover Roundabout.
Local diversion
To work safely, we’ll close the A47 at Lynn Road Roundabout near Wisbech.
You will be diverted to:
- Lynn Road
- from Lynn Road Roundabout, head onto St Paul’s Road South
- at the Walton Road, turn onto Smeeth Road and continue to School Road, before turning left onto Main Road
- then continue over the A47 and follow local signs to rejoin the Lynn Road area

Resurfacing work to start

We're resurfacing the A47 between Wisbech Roundabout (Wisbech) and Lynn Road Roundabout near King's Lynn.
We’ll be working weeknights from Monday 24 November 2025 to Saturday 17 January 2026 (8pm to 6am), weather permitting.
Closures and Diversions
To work safely, we’ll close the A47 in both directions between Wisbech Roundabout (Wisbech) and Pullover Round, near King’s Lynn.
Eastbound diversion
Drivers travelling eastbound to King’s Lynn will need to:
- exit the A47 at Wisbech Roundabout onto the A1101
- continue on the A1101 to Downham Market then onto the A1122
- before joining the A10 to Hardwick Roundabout, Kings Lynn
- re-join the A47 to continue on your journey
Drivers travelling westbound will follow the same diversion as above, but in reverse.
There will be no work over the Christmas period between Saturday 21 December and Sunday 4 January 2026.
