A421 Elstow to Cardington drainage
We’re repairing and replacing road drainage the A421 between Elstow and Cardington junctions. Works start on 13 April and we aim to finish by end July 2026.
Our work will help water drain more effectively, reducing the risk of the road and nearby areas flooding.
Closures
Between 13 April and 17 July - A421 westbound from A603 Cardington to A6 Elstow
Closed overnight (8pm - 6am) on:
- Monday 13 April to Friday 8 May (weeknights)
- Saturday 30 to Sunday 31 May (weekend overnight)
- Saturday 6 to Sunday 7 June (weekend overnight)
- Wednesday 10 June to Friday 17 July (weeknights)
Monday 11 to Friday 15 May - A421 westbound from A4280 Renhold to A603 Cardington junction
Closed overnight (8pm - 6am) on weeknights.
Diversion
Both closures use the same diversion route
- you'll be diverted eastbound to Renhold junction
- at Renhold junction to exit onto the A4280
- travel west on Goldington Road and continue travelling on A4280 Bromham Road
- then follow the A6 (The Branston Way) and rejoin the A421 at Marsh Leys junction.
