Work gets under way

To work safely, we’ll need the following road closures:

Monday 21 July to Saturday 8 August (8pm to 6am) - A14 westbound between junctions 36 and 42, both lane one and lane two closures. No diversion necessary.

Monday 11 August to end of September 2025 (9pm to 5am) - A14 between junctions 36 and 39 full westbound closure.

Diversions
- If you're heading west on the A14 from junction 39, leave at junction 39 and follow the B1506.
- Continue through Newmarket on the A1304. At the first roundabout, take the third exit onto the A1303.
- Stay on the A1303 until you reach junction 36, where you can rejoin the A14.
Drivers wanting to get to the A11 can use the same diversion route and join the A11 via Six Mile Bottom. 

Once we finish the westbound section, we’ll start work eastbound between junctions 36 and 42. This will run from early October to December 2025. We’ll also begin improvements between junctions 39 and 42. We’ll be in touch soon with more details.

Project information

We’re resurfacing and carrying out drainage renewal on the A14 between junction 36 and 42.

Once complete, drivers will enjoy a safer, smoother and better-marked road that drains more effectively and is less likely to flood. 

We’ll work between Monday 21 July and December 2025, weeknights only, weather permitting.

This work will ensure the A14 continues to remain in a safe and serviceable condition in these areas.
