Work starts on Monday 16 September 2024 for approximately 2 months

We’ll be doing essential maintenance work on the A14 between junction 52 (Claydon) and junction 55 (Copdock Interchange).

We now plan to start this work on Monday 16 September 2024 for approximately 2 months. This will allow us to incorporate maintenance planned for later in the year and reduce the number of closures required on this section of the A14. Work will be carried out on weeknights only, between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

We understand how disruptive closures on this section of the A14 are to local residents but, repairs are needed to minimise the need for more extensive repairs in the future.

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A14 between junctions 52 and 55. Closures will be in both directions, but not both at the same time. We will start work on the eastbound section first.

Ahead of work starting, we will be holding a free public information drop-in event on Wednesday 21 August between 4pm and 7pm at Tithe Barn, Lower Street, Sproughton, IP8 3AA. This event is your opportunity to ask members of the project team any questions about the project and its road closures.

    Diversions

While the A14 is closed eastbound, traffic will exit at junction 52 (Claydon), travel along the B1113 through Bramford and Sproughton, then along the A1071 and A1214 to rejoin the A14 at Copdock roundabout.

Westbound diversion will be the same in reverse.
