We’ll be doing essential maintenance work on the A14 between junctions 52 (Claydon) and 51 (Needham Market). This work will include resurfacing and refreshing road markings.

A14 westbound junctions 51 to 50 – 27 October to 19 December 2025
Works
We're doing essential maintenance on the A14 between junctions 51 and 50, including resurfacing and refreshing road markings.
We understand and recognise how disruptive closures on this section of the A14 are to local residents. However, the repairs are needed to extend the life of the road surface and to reduce the need for more extensive repairs in the future.
We'll do this phase of work over eight weeks, starting from Monday 27 October 2025.
Closures
Monday 27 October to Friday 19 December 2025 (8pm-6am)
- A14 westbound between junctions 51 and 50
Diversion
- at junction 51 take the slip road exit leading to Beacon Hill Interchange
- at Beacon Hill Interchange, take the third exit onto the A140
- continue on the A140 towards Scole and at the third roundabout, take the first exit onto the A143
- continue on the A143 and follow it round to St Saviours Interchange
- at St Saviours Interchange, take the fifth exit to re-join the A14

Work to begin this month
We’re doing essential maintenance work on the A14 between junctions 52 and 51, which will include resurfacing and refreshing road markings.
We plan to complete this work over three weeks from Monday 15 September 2025. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weeknights only, weather permitting.
Closures
To work safely, we’ll need the following road closures:
Monday 15 September for three weeks, weeknights only (8pm to 6am)
- A14 westbound between junctions 52 and 51 closure.
Diversion
- Exit the A14 at junction 52 (Claydon) and join Norwich Road
- continue westbound along Norwich Road towards junction 51.
- at junction 51 (Needham Market), exit onto Kettle Lane.
- from Kettle Lane, you can rejoin the A14 westbound and continue your journey.
