A1 Alconbury to Brampton road markings and maintenance - March to May 2026
We're maintaining the A1 in both directions between Alconbury and Brampton. Our work includes repainting road markings, replacing cat's eyes and other maintenance.
We start work on Monday 2 March and expect to finish in May 2026.
We'll work overnight (8pm to 6am) for the first three weeks, weather permitting.
Closures
Monday 2 to Wednesday 11 March - A1 southbound from Alconbury to Brampton
Closed overnight (8pm – 6am).
Diversion –
- take the exit slip road at junction 23
- at the roundabout, take the third exit onto the A141
- at Brampton Hut Interchange roundabout, take the first exit back onto the A1

Thursday 12 to Friday 20 March - A1 northbound from Brampton to Alconbury
Closed overnight (8pm – 6am).
Diversion –
- at Brampton Hut Interchange roundabout, take the third exit onto the A141
- at the next roundabout, take the first exit onto the A1307 at junction 23
- continue on the A1307, which merges back onto the A1
