M40 - Between J16 and J15 - Carriageway Closed

The M40 in Warwickshire remains closed southbound between J16 (Hockley Heath) and J15 (Warwick) due to a collision involving multiple vehicles that occurred at 22:50 last night.

2 lanes (of 3) were closed on the M40 northbound due to this incident. These lanes were re-opened at 14:00.

Warwickshire Police are leading the response at this stage with collision investigation work ongoing with no times for the reopening of the carriageway at this stage. 

National Highways Traffic Officers and contractors are also in attendance to assist with strategic closures on the approach.

Southbound Diversion

Road users are advised to follow the hollow circle diversion symbol on road signs

  • Exit the M40 southbound at J16 and take the second exit, onto the A3400 towards Henley-in-Arden
  • Continue approximately 3 miles to the A4189 junction
  • At the A4189 junction turn left, towards Warwick
  • Travel along the A4189 for approximately 6.5 miles, to the junction with the B4463
  •  At the B4463 junction turn right, towards Warwick
  • Stay on the B4463 to the junction with the A46
  • Take the second exit, towards the M40
  • Rejoin the M40 at J15
