M1 - Emergency re-surfacing operation
The M1 in Hertfordshire is closed southbound between J5 (Watford) and J1 (Brent Cross) for emergency resurfacing works.
At approx. 13:00 this afternoon an infrastructure defect was identified and lane closures were implemented at scene. Following a road surface assessment it was concluded resurfacing was needed which due to the extent of the defect, requires a full closure to complete.
Crews are now on scene to complete the resurfacing work which will take place overnight.
