Archaeologists discovered a whole host of rare finds along the A1 in Yorkshire.

The A38 is an important route from Birmingham to Derby and through to the M1 at junction 28. Where it passes through Derby, long distance traffic interacts with a large volume of vehicles causing congestion and delays for those making local journeys.

The Paisley Road West railway bridge, constructed in 1909, carries Paisley Road over the former General Terminus railway branch. The line closed in the 1970s, with the tracks removed and the track beds on both sides of the bridge redeveloped.

Built for the Halifax High Level Railway, Wheatley Viaduct measures over 180m long with a slight curve. It was mainly used to transport coal, with the last goods train running in 1960.

The A5 in Towcester has longstanding issues with the high levels of traffic passing through its historic town centre, causing environmental, safety and accessibility concerns to residents and businesses.
