Chance to find out more about National Highways’ safety scheme

Residents and drivers can find out more about a new safety scheme due to get under way along the A46 in Warwickshire at two information events this week.

Members of the project team will be on hand to talk about the scheme and answer any questions or concerns.

As part of the work, National Highways is replacing the signage, renewing road markings and studs and carrying out some resurfacing between the Oversley Mill and Marraway roundabouts near Stratford upon Avon.

National Highways Project Manager, David Winwood, said:

“Safety is our number one priority and we are always monitoring and reviewing our roads. As a result, we are replacing the signage here to ensure road users are better informed of the road layout, and that the bends and junctions are clearly signed throughout.

“To ensure the safety of both our workers and road users, we will need to carry out some phased closures while these improvements are carried out.

“We are keen to ensure people know about the closures and the improvements we are making. So we will be on hand for two days at the Maybird Shopping Park and would invite local people to come and see us to find out more.”

The project team will be at the Maybird Shopping Park car park in Birmingham Rd, Stratford-upon-Avon, on Wednesday (29 January) between 9am and 1pm and Thursday (30 January) from 1-5pm.

Beginning on Monday 3 February, the work will take place overnight, Monday to Friday, from 8pm to 6am when roads are quieter.

To minimise disruption, there will be phased closures as below:

  • 3 February to 24 February - the A46 will be closed between Oversley Mill roundabout and Shottery roundabout.
  • 25 February to 28 February - the A46 will be closed between Shottery roundabout and Bishopton roundabout.
  • 3 March to 19 March - the A46 will be closed between Bishopton roundabout and Marraway roundabout.
