Resurfacing update

We’ve finished our planned programme of work. However, as we lost some time due to weather, we’ll need to return to couple of areas to finish our resurfacing over the next few weeks.

All closures are between 8pm and 6am:
- Tuesday 2 to Wednesday 3 April: full closure both directions between Fontwell East Roundabout and Ford
- Thursday 4 to Friday 5 April: westbound between Fontwell East and Fontwell West roundabout
- Monday 15 to Wednesday 17 April: full closure both directions between Fontwell East Roundabout and Ford
- Thursday 18, Friday 19 & Monday 22 April: the northern section of the Fontwell East Roundabout will be closed
For access to properties on the A27, please approach the closure gate and speak to one of the site team.

Please follow signs for access, or speak to the site team, as the direction you need to approach from may change as we progress. We’ll be posting details of where we’re working here.

Project information

We’re resurfacing and making improvements to the A27 between Fontwell West and the Ford roundabouts.

This will maintain safety and improve the journey for road users, while reducing the need for unplanned closures.

Repairs and maintenance on the A27 are critical for safety reasons. This work is part of our programme of maintenance that keeps our roads safe.

We’ll carry out our work in phases starting from the evening of Monday 15 January. It will take us eight weeks.

This work will take place on weeknights only, between 8pm and 6am, when there’s less traffic on the road.

Work phases

Phase one: A27 westbound Fontwell West to Fontwell East roundabouts.
Phase two: A27 eastbound Fontwell East to the junction with Long Lane (where it reduces to a single lane in each direction).
Phase three: A27 junction with Long Lane to the Ford Roundabout.
Phase four: A27 westbound Long Lane junction to Fontwell East Roundabout.
Phase five: The Fontwell East Roundabout.
Phase six: A27 eastbound Fontwell West to Fontwell East roundabouts.
