What personal data do we collect and handle?

Information we may collect includes:

  • As an individual, what group you consider yourself to fall under, such as ‘local resident’ or ‘road user - motorcyclist’
  • As an organisation, the name of your organisation and the type, such as ‘County Council’ or ‘Trade Association’.

Please note that the information we process on you will always be proportionate and only used in support for the purpose specified.

What do we use the data for?

This data is collected so that we can analyse the feedback according to different groups of respondents. This helps us to understand the themes that are important to different people and organisations.

How long will we keep the data?

The data will be held until the end of the RIS3 planning period at the end of 2025.

Where will the data be stored?

This feedback survey is hosted by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) as a software subscription held by National Highways. You can see ESRI’s privacy notice here.

What legally allows us to collect and handle information about you?

Article 6.1c - The processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation. This feedback fulfils National Highways’ licence requirements as part of the Infrastructure Act (2015).

Who do we share your data with?

You feedback will be shared with teams across National Highways to help inform the development of the Road Investment Strategy. The third parties involved in the processing of this data are ESRI (hosting the survey software) and Costain (providing analysis of responses for National Highways). Your data will not be shared outside of National Highways for any other purpose.

What rights do you have?

You have the right:

  • to be informed as to what we are using your personal data for
  • to access your personal data
  • to rectify your personal data
  • to restrict our processing of your personal data
  • to erasure
