Last winter, our 530 gritters clocked up more than 1.5 million miles keeping England's roads clear.
Our teams carried out more than 23,000 gritting runs to keep traffic moving safely through snow, ice and freezing temperatures.
This winter, we could use more than 250,000 tonnes of salt to treat roads across England.
We've got over 120 salt depots stocked and ready, backed up by 200 weather monitoring stations feeding real-time data to our control centres.
Be prepared
While our teams are keeping roads clear, we need you to get ready for winter driving conditions.
Last winter saw 67,768 breakdowns between December and February. Many could have been avoided with simple checks.
Follow our T.R.I.P. advice:
- Top-up - fuel, oil and screen wash
- Rest - plan stops every two hours
- Inspect - check tyre pressure and tread
- Prepare - have a plan for severe weather
Don't get caught out this winter - be prepared.
