Current closures

Monday 26 October to Monday 2 November - M60 junction 18 clockwise free-flow link to M66 northbound and entry slip from roundabout to M66 northbound

Closed overnight (9pm-6am)

Diversion

  • at junction 18, take the third exit and join the M60 southbound
  • at M60 junction 19, take the fourth exit and join the M60 northbound
  • continue your journey through junction 18 on to the M66 northbound

  • M66 southbound junction 3 entry slip closure
  • M66 southbound junction 4 exit slip closure
  • M66 southbound to M62 eastbound free-flow link closure 

Diversion Route (6 miles / 10 km)

  • exit M66 southbound at junction 3
  • turn left onto Pilsworth Road
  • turn right onto Moss Hall Road and continue to Queen Elizabeth Way
  • take the fourth exit at junction 19 of the M62 to join the M62 westbound
  • continue and exit at junction 18 to continue your journey

  • exit M60 anticlockwise at junction 18, take the third exit to join M62 eastbound
  • exit M62 junction 19 take the first exit to Queen Elizabeth Way
  • continue to Moss Hall Road, turn left onto Pilsworth Road
  • turn right to re-join the M66 northbound at junction 3

  • turn rigcht to rejoin the M66 northbound at junction 3

Speed limit restriction

We have a 50mph restricted speed limit through our works.

At the end of most restricted sections, you'll see “end of works” and national speed limit (NSL) signs.

Moving from 50mph restricted sections to variable speed limit motorway

At two locations, you won't return to the national speed limit:

  • M60 anti clockwise junction 17 to 16, just west of the junction 17 slip road onto the M60
  • M62 eastbound junction 18 towards Birch Services

This is because:

  • you're joining sections of variable speed limit motorway
  • you'll need to follow the speed limit shown on overhead electronic signs.
