  Work continues during September and October

  Closures

  7 to 18 September and 5 to 20 October - M1 northbound between junctions 6 to 8

  Closed overnight Monday to Thursday only (10pm-5am).

  Friday 11 September, Friday 18 September and Monday 21 September - M1 north and southbound junction 8 exit slip and A414 westbound from Park Street to Junction 8

  Closed overnight (10pm-5am).

  Sunday 20 and Sunday 27 September - M1 north and southbound junction 8 entry slip and A414 eastbound junction 8 entry slip

  Closed overnight (10pm-5am).

  Diversions

  M1 Northbound traffic:

  • drivers leave the M1 at junction 6, travelling westbound on A405/North Orbital Road 
  • then joining Watford Road which joins the A41 travelling northbound
  • then joining the A414 eastbound
  • then re-join the M1 northbound at junction 8

  M1 Southbound traffic:

  Drivers will exit at junction 6, where you will follow the northbound diversion back to junction 8.

  • Diversion will be via the A405 and North Orbital Road then A41 to re-join the M1 at Junction 8 if required

  Any northbound traffic not exiting at junction 6 will need to continue to junction 9, then travel back southbound to follow the diversions above.

  A414 westbound traffic:

  • leave the A414 at Park Street Roundabout, travelling southbound on the A405/North Orbital Road
  • travel on Watford Road then join the A41 northbound
  • drivers will then re-join the A414
