We plan to repair the carriageway on the A56, between the A680 Blackburn Road (Rising Bridge roundabout) and the M65 junction 8. The work will take place on both sides of the carriageway, and at the roundabout at junction 8. This will include the replacement of road markings and studs, drainage repairs, and vegetation clearance. Our aim is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

Work is due to start on or shortly after 2 August 2021. To ensure we deliver this simultaneously with other projects in the area, there will be several short breaks within our programme of work. Below is a breakdown on how we plan to carry out these works:

This letter is to inform you of lighting improvement work on the slip roads at M53 junction 3. New lighting columns and safety barrier will be installed on the northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads. The work will also include some minimal vegetation clearance to provide suitable working space to safely carry out the work.

We plan to start on or shortly after 6 December 2021, with the aim to finish by the end of March 2022. This will take place Monday to Friday between the hours of 9pm and 5am.

During our work, overnight full closures of the slip roads are required for safety. To ensure journeys are maintained, localised signed diversion routes will be in place. Advance signage of any planned closures will be displayed on the slip roads.

As we approach Christmas, we’ll be completing as much work as possible before closing site for the festive period. Our site will close from Tuesday 21 December, and we will resume work on Tuesday 4 January 2022.

We'll be resurfacing the carriageway on the M6 between junctions 19 and 20. In total, we plan to resurface over 22km of carriageway, most of which will take place on the northbound carriageway. The work will also include the replacement of road markings, traffic detection cables and reinstating the manhole covers on the hard-shoulder. The purpose of our work is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

Work is due to start on or shortly after 6 December 2021, with the aim to finish by the end of March 2022. This will take place Monday to Saturday, between the hours of 10pm and 5am (extended to 7am during the weekend).

During these works, overnight lane closures will be in place for safety. Additionally, some full carriageways closures are also required on the M6 between junctions 19 and 20, to replace the traffic detection cables. To ensure journeys are maintained, localised signed diversion routes will be in place.

Work to replace the safety barrier on the M60 between junctions 2 and 4 is due to start. This will take place in the verge area along the main carriageway and along slip roads. The purpose of the work is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

Work is due to start on or shortly after 12 April 2021. In total we’ll be replacing around 10km of barrier in phases, and as a result will take approximately 30 weeks to complete.

To minimise disruption, we plan to deliver most of the work during daytime hours while traffic flows are lower. However, some overnight work will also be required for work which we’re unable to carry out during the day. Any overnight work will take place between the hours of 9pm and 5am (extended to 7am during the weekend).

During daytime hours, lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 50mph will be in place on the slip roads for safety. Overnight, lane closures are required on the M60 between junctions 2 and 4. In addition to this, we will also need to close the slip roads. This will be done in phases, and localised signed diversion routes will be in place.

We're planning to fully resurface the roundabout at M60 junction 8, and several slip roads between junctions 8 and 13. The work will include the replacement of road markings, bridge joints and traffic detection cables. The purpose of our work is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

Work is due to start on or shortly after 13 September 2021 for approximately 10 weeks. This will take place Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8pm and 5am (extended to 7am during the weekend).

To carry out the work safely, overnight slip road closures are required. To ensure journeys are maintained localised signed diversion routes will be in place. Our work will be done in many phases, and plan to only close one slip road at a time. Occasionally, we may more than one slip road, with the aim to finish the work as quickly as possible.

We plan to replace sections of safety barrier on the M60. The work will take place within the central reservation between junctions 15 and 18. The purpose of the work is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

The repairs to the safety barrier will start on or shortly after 11 October 2021 for total of six weeks. This will take place between the hours of 10pm and 5am.

During these works, overnight lane closures are required on the M60 between junctions 15 and 18. This will be in place on both sides of the carriageway, and will be done in a variety of phases.

We're planning to start work to improve the roundabout at M65 junction 2. The work will entail:

  • installing some new signage
  • surfacing sections of the carriageway
  • replacing sections of safety barrier
  • renewing road markings on the roundabout

The purpose of our work is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

Work is due to start on or shortly after 15 November, and we aim to finish around early December. This will take place Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9pm and 5am.

During these works, the M65 junction 2 eastbound and westbound link roads (Walton Summit Link Spur) will be closed for safety. Both link roads will be closed at the same time, and clear signed diversion routes will be in place (see below).

Whilst we always aim to work to our schedule, unforeseen circumstances such as severe weather conditions may mean slight changes occur at short notice. Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum. We thank you for bearing with us, and again apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

We're planning to resurface the M65 between junctions 8 and 10. In total, we plan to resurface over 40km of carriageway. The work will take place on both sides of the carriageway and will include the replacement of road markings, bridge joints and traffic detection cables. The purpose of our work is to ensure we keep the network safe and operational, as well as improving journeys for our customers.

Work is due to start on or shortly after 18 October 2021 for around 17 weeks. This will take place Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8pm and 5am (extended to 7am during the weekend).

For safety, overnight full carriageway closures are required on the M65 between junctions 8 and 10. These will be in place in many phases, and only one side of the carriageway will be closed at a time. Occasionally, we will need some closures at junction 7 and 11 to tie in the surfacing work. Associated slip road closures are also required, and to ensure journeys are maintained localised signed diversion routes will be in place.
