Project information
Overview
We've identified parts of the bridge that need renewing. We'll be:
- renewing waterproofing
- repairing bridge joints
- reconstructing footpaths and central reservation
- resurfacing
- improving barriers, lighting and signs
We're also working in partnership with Stoke City Council and the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans) to improve pedestrian and cycle access. We'll build:
- a new shared-use cycleway
- a widened footway
Benefits
By repairing the bridge now, we reduce the need for further disruptive closures in the future.
Our pedestrian and cycling access improvements will support active travel initiatives and deliver lasting benefits for the community.
