  Getting ready to start concrete repairs - May 2026

  The first phase of work will start on Dennis Roundabout in early May to repair concrete to both bridges. 

  To allow access to all areas requiring repairs, scaffolding will be installed on the verges of the roundabout beneath the bridges.

  To provide sufficient working space and to protect both the scaffolding and road users, a lane closure will be required on the west side of the roundabout for the duration of the works.

  Unfortunately, the pedestrian footpath at this location will also need to be closed while the works are underway, with a signed diversion via Wooden Bridge footbridge.

  There will be a series of overnight closures at the roundabout. The first set will be on the 

  Monday 11 to Friday 15 May - east side of Dennis roundabout

  Closed overnight. Also includes a closure of Worplesdon Road to Midleton Road:

  Between Monday 18 May and Friday 29 May -west side of Dennis roundabout

  Closed overnight. Also includes closures of 

  • Midleton Road from Woodbridge Meadows to Dennis Roundabout
  • A3 Southbound entry sliproad

  on:

  • Monday 18 to Thursday 21 May
  • Tuesday 26  to Friday 29 May

  The A3 will remain open during these closures.

  The second phase of the works will be on the A3. This work will include:

  • refurbishing the bridge decks
  • repairing the concrete on the top of the bridges
  • re-waterproofing, and replacing bridge joints and barriers

  We'll also be resurfacing the A3 carriageway in both directions between Dennis roundabout and the Wooden Bridge footbridge to remove the bumps in the carriageway. 

  These works are due to start in June. To do them safely, we’ll require a combination of full weekend closures, overnight closures, and 24/7 narrow lanes on the A3. 

  Weekend closure dates

  A3 northbound from Dennis Interchange to Stoke Interchange.

  9pm Friday 5 June to 6am Monday 8 June

  When the A3 northbound carriageway opens on Monday 8 June there will be 24/7 narrow lanes in place until Monday 20 July.

  9pm Friday 17 July to 6am Monday 20 July 

  To complete waterproofing and the removal of narrow lanes - A3 southbound from Stoke Interchange to Dennis Interchange.

  9pm Friday 12 June to 6am Monday 15 June

  When the A3 southbound carriageway opens on Monday 15 June there will be 24/7 narrow lanes in place until Monday 13 July.

  9pm Friday 10 July to 6am Monday 13 July

  To complete waterproofing and the removal of narrow lanes.

  Monday 8 June to Friday 17 July - A3 northbound from Dennis Interchange to Stoke Interchange 

  Closed overnight  (9pm - 6am) on weeknights. Last closure ends 6am Saturday Morning.

  Monday 15 June to Friday 10 July - A3 southbound from Stoke Interchange to Dennis Interchange 

  Closed overnight  (9pm - 6am) on weeknights. Last closure ends 6am Saturday Morning.

  Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July - A3 southbound from Stoke Interchange to Dennis Interchange 

  Closed overnight  (9pm - 6am) on weeknights. Last closure ends 6am Saturday Morning.
