Top marks for A31 bridge replacement scheme

Our project to reduce congestion and delays on a busy tourist route at the edge of the New Forest has been rated excellent by an independent organisation aimed at raising standards within the construction industry.

An independent assessor from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) recently visited our site on the A31 at Ringwood and scored us top marks in all three categories – Respect the Community, Care for the Environment and Value the Workforce.

With the scheme achieving a total of 45 out of 45, the assessor praised the site team for our robust approach to safety; our focus on minimising the impact in the neighbourhood through a ‘Community Impact Plan’; having a high percentage of the workforce coming from the local community; and our extensive environmental protection measures.

In his report, the assessor summed up the site as “...a modern energy efficient site set-up that is providing a supportive and caring working environment for the workforce during these advancing stages.”

Following the review, Dan Kittredge, project manager for the A31 Ringwood, said: “We’re delighted that our hard work to deliver this project with consideration has been recognised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme. We face a number of challenges in delivering this complex scheme. Not only are we working within a small site, on the edge of a busy market town, the river below us is classed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Well done to all the team on this great achievement.”
