North West LED roadside lighting upgrades

The A5036 is one of the first routes to benefit from this programme. We plan to upgrade 287 lights along this route as part of our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.

To carry out this work as efficiently as we can, we will be working at night and moving along the road in short sections as we upgrade each light. Diversion routes will be in place while overnight road closures are in effect and will be clearly signposted.

The upgrade work is scheduled to take place overnight, between 8pm and 4am. Dates are subject to slight changes due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather.

As part of our efforts to cut carbon emissions from roadside lighting, we’ll be upgrading lights to LED on the A585 from junction 3 of the M55 to Dock Road, Fleetwood.

Work will take place overnight, from 9pm to 5am, to minimise disruptions to daytime traffic.

The work will be carried out in sections, meaning we will close the A585 in short segments between roundabouts. These are as follows:

• Monday 30 October: the A585 will be closed between Dock Street roundabout and the roundabout junction with A587 Station Road and Anchorage Road.

• Tuesday 31 October to Thursday 2 November: A585 Amounderness Way closed between the roundabout junction with A587 Station Road and Anchorage Road, and the roundabout junction with Denham Way and Herring Road Arm.

• Friday 3 November, Monday 5 to Wednesday 8 November: A585 Amounderness Way closed between Eros roundabout and the roundabout junction with Denham Way and Herring Arm Road.

• Thursday 9 to Thursday 16 November 2023: A585 Amounderness Way closed from Fleetwood Road Roundabout to Victoria Road West Roundabout.

• Friday 17 to Wednesday 22 November: A585 Amounderness Way closed from Norcross Lane Roundabout to Victoria Road West Roundabout.

• Thursday 23 to Monday 27 November: A585 Amounderness Way closed from Skippool Roundabout to Fleetwood Road South Roundabout.

• Tuesday 28 to Friday 8 December: A585 Fleetwood Road closed from junction 3 of the M55 to Garstang New Road junction.

Dates and times are subject to slight change due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather. During any closures, fully signed diversion routes will be in place.

Starting Tuesday 29 August 2023, we'll be upgrading roadside lighting on the A595 in Cumbria to LED lighting.

To carry out this work as efficiently as we can, we will be working at night and moving along the road in short sections as we upgrade each light. We will use a mixture of full road closures and lane closures with temporary traffic lights to manage safe traffic flows.

Our LED upgrade work on the A595 will start on Tuesday 29 August near Lillyhall and continue in a southbound direction along the route until our light upgrades are completed near Sellafield in late October.

The upgrade work will take place on weeknights, between 9pm and 5am. Dates are subject to slight changes due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather.

Throughout the first week of work, the A595 between Distington roundabout and Dobbies roundabout will be closed from Tuesday 29 August to Tuesday 5 September, between 9pm and 5am, with a local diversion in place. This section will remain open through the day.

Starting on Monday 9 October 2023, we'll be installing new roadside columns with LED lighting at Park Road roundabout on the A590.

We'll also be taking the opportunity to install new safety barriers, lit bollards and better signage on the roundabout to improve safety.

To carry out this work as efficiently as we can and reduce disruption, we will be working at night. Our work will take place on weeknights, between 8pm and 6am.

We will use a mixture of lane closures and temporary traffic lights to safely manage road users.

Our improvement work is planned to be completed by Thursday 25 January 2024. Dates are subject to slight changes due to unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather.
