Celebrating young talents

To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week (6 to 12 February), colleagues from across National Highways have been sharing their apprentice experiences.

Kurt, marketing apprentice

Kurt is a member of our corporate marketing team where he currently works across multiple areas supporting both regional and national marketing campaigns.

“I chose to apply for an apprenticeship as I didn’t see myself in the classroom environment anymore,” Kurt said.

“I wanted to gain real life work experience to benefit me in the years to come rather than go down the academic route.

“My role involves meeting a lot of people from across the organisation and with people outside the company. It’s always exciting as I like discussing topics, looking at creatives and evaluating a campaign’s impact. No two days are ever the same.

“Getting into the working world early has massively helped me develop. If anyone is thinking about applying for an apprenticeship, my tip would be to ask a lot of questions throughout the process.

“It shows you have passion and a willingness to learn, which are invaluable when you’re starting your career.”
