  Latest road closure dates, November and December

  Please find the updated closures and diversion information in the table below.

  The road will be closed overnight between 9pm and 5am on each of the following nights:

  Wednesday 22 November to Friday 1 December and Wednesday 6 to Thursday 7 December	Full closure of the A12 northbound carriageway between junction 25 (Marks Tey) and junction 29 (Stanway)	Traffic will exit at junction 25 onto the B1408, A1124, A133 and A1232 to rejoin the A12 at junction 29.
  Monday 4, Tuesday 5 December and Monday 18 December	Full closure of the A12 southbound between 29 (Stanway) and junction 27.	Traffic will exit at junction 29 Ardleigh Crown Interchange and travel along A1232 and A133 and re-join the A12 southbound at junction 26.

  New October and November road closure dates

  Due to the heavy rain we’ve had and are expecting in the area over the coming days, we are having to change the dates for some of our planned road closures.

  Please find the updated closures and diversion information in the table below. The road will be closed overnight between 9pm and 5am on each of the following nights:

  October closures

  The maintenance taking place between junction 26 and junction 33 is now nearing completion. This has included resurfacing and renewal of safety fence, road markings, traffic signs and drainage.

  Where possible, the remaining work will be done using lane closures. We plan to complete the work in November. Please visit this page for further updates.

• 04 September 2023

  September closures

  Maintenance work is taking place between junction 25 Marks Tey and junction 29 Ardleigh Crown Interchange, to replace safety barriers and signage. These works will take place overnight between 9pm to 5am on the following nights.

  Upcoming closures

  We’ll be carrying out a range of maintenance work on the A12 between junction 25 and junction 32. These projects will be undertaken in various phases, running until September 2023.

  Northbound junction 29 to 32

  • September 2023 (dates to be confirmed)

  Northbound traffic will be diverted off A12 at junction 29 to A120 Crown Interchange to follow the A1232 and A137 before joining the A14 at junction 56

  Southbound junction 29 to 25

  • Thursday 3 August to 8 August – J29 to J26
  • Tuesday 8 August to Thursday 10 August – J29 to J25
  • Thursday 10 August to Saturday 12 August – J29 to J26
  • Saturday 12 August to Thursday 17 August – J29 to J27

  Whilst we are working, southbound traffic will be diverted off the A12 at junction 29 onto Ipswich Road, Cowdray Avenue, Colne Bank Avenue and Cymbeline Way to re-join the A12 at junction 27, 26 or 25 as per above schedule.

  All work will be undertaken between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only.

  National Highways Public Engagement Event – Monday 13 March

  National Highways are holding a Public Information Exhibition on Monday 13 March from 10:30am to 4pm, at Venture Centre 2000.

  Our engagement van will be deployed at this location where staff will be available to give information about our ongoing and upcoming works, specifically along the A12 between junctions 25 and 32.
