A1 Overnight road closure - CCTV Installation

We’ll be installing CCTV on the A1 in both directions between Sandy and Black Cat roundabout.

Before we can start building the new A421-A1 northbound slip road and the new link road overbridge that connect to Roxton Road, we need to close the A1 northbound and southbound overnight between Sandy and Black Cat roundabout to install CCTV columns in several locations.
How will this affect me?
We’ll be installing CCTV on the A1 in both directions between Sandy and Black Cat roundabout between Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 January 2024 and Wednesday 10 to Thursday 11 January 2024.

The diversion route will be clearly signed, as follows:
During the A1 Northbound closure – northbound traffic will use the A603 at Sandy & the A421 re-joining the A1 at Black Cat roundabout. Southbound traffic will continue to use the A1.
During the A1 Southbound closure – southbound traffic will use the A421 & the A603 at Sandy re-joining the A1 at Sandy roundabout. Northbound traffic will continue to use the A1.
