A1 overnight closure

CCTV and narrow lanes install on A1

We’ll be installing CCTV on the A1 southbound between Wyboston and Black Cat roundabout, and between Black Cat roundabout and Sandy. This will work will be carried out overnight.

Safety barriers and narrow lanes install on A1 

We’ll also be installing safety barriers and narrow lanes on the A1 northbound between Sandy and Black Cat roundabout, and Black Cat roundabout and Wyboston. This will work will be carried out overnight.

Please be advised on each night of the closures the Black Cat roundabout itself will remain open.

Please remember:

• Traffic approaching the closure location shortly before 9pm is likely to be subject to the diversion while the closure is put in place. 
• We always try to stick to timings; however, these closures may be amended due to poor weather or operational reasons.

A1 northbound & southbound Black Cat roundabout to Wyboston diversion

Traffic will use the A428, A1198 and A505 to rejoin the A1 at junction 9.

Any traffic wishing to join the A1 southbound within the closed section will be diverted north on the A1 to Wyboston to join the diversion.

A1 southbound Black Cat roundabout to Tempsford diversion

Southbound traffic will use the A421 & the A603 re-joining the A1 at Sandy roundabout. Northbound traffic will continue to use the A1.

A1 northbound Tempsford to Black Cat roundabout diversion

Northbound traffic will use the A603 at Sandy & the A421 & the A603 re-joining the A1 at Black Cat roundabout. Southbound traffic will continue to use the A1.
