Temporary overnight work for a week: utility cable surveys

We’re continuing with our detailed survey programme along the route of the A303 Stonehenge scheme next week (14-19 June).

Temporary overnight work for a week: utility cable surveys

Surveys will be carried out over five nights from Monday 14 June, along the A303 between Countess roundabout to the west of Winterbourne Stoke. All the work is being done overnight, to avoid busy periods and to minimise disruption.

Why are you doing these surveys?

As part of our ongoing preparation work before construction starts, we need to survey existing utility cabling in the area.

When is this work happening?

Surveys will take place during the night-time only for five nights, from Monday 14 June until Friday 18 June, between 8pm – 6am.

We expect the surveys to be complete by 6am on Saturday 19 June.

How will this work affect me?

While the surveys take place, there will be temporary lane closures in small sections of the road for the safety of the workforce and drivers. These will move along the road as the surveys progress.

The A303 will remain open for traffic throughout.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused while we carry out this work and we thank drivers and residents for their continued patience.

Will this work be noisy?

We don’t expect that the noise from carrying out surveys will be disruptive. We’re not using any heavy construction equipment, and any noise will be similar to normal traffic noise.

Who’s doing the survey work?

Instalcom will be undertaking this work on our behalf. It will require a small team on site to carry out the surveys and set up the temporary lane closures.

We’ll keep you posted with any updates on our website, Twitter and Facebook, so keep checking our channels to stay up to date.
