A2 resurfacing in Dover - 25 to 26 November 2024
Closure:
The A2 in Dover will be closed eastbound between the Whitfield roundabout and the Duke of York roundabout overnight on Monday 25 November and Tuesday 26 November.
The road will be shut from 9pm to 6am each night.
Diversion:
Traffic will be diverted via the A256 Whitfield Hill, London Road, York Street, the A20 and the A2.

A21 Quarry Hill bridge renewal - Monday 29 April to November 2024
We'll be carrying out essential renewals to the bridge on Quarry Hill Road bridge that runs over the A21 south of Tonbridge.
We’ll start on Monday 29 April, and will be carrying out the improvements under a mix of full closures, temporary traffic lights and lane closures. To minimise disruption, our full closures will take place on weeknights only when there are fewer vehicles on the road.
The work is currently scheduled to finish in November 2024 and while we always aim to work to the programme, unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
Traffic management and closure details
- Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 April, and Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 May: there will be temporary traffic lights on Vauxhall Lane just off the A2014 overnight, 8pm to 6am each night while we set up our site compound.
- Tuesday 14 May to Wednesday 20 November: there will be a lane closed and a reduced speed limit on the A21 northbound between Quarry Hill Road (A26) junction and Tonbridge overbridge (A2014) junction 24/7 from 6am Tuesday 14 May.
- Wednesday 15 May to Thursday 7 November: a lane will be closed on the A26 overbridge 24/7 from 6am Wednesday 15 May.
The A21 northbound will be closed from Quarry Hill Road (A26) to Longfield Road (Tunbridge Wells) overnight between 8pm and 6am on:
- Friday 10 May
- Monday 13 May
- Tuesday 14 May – including a closure of the southbound Quarry Hill exit slip
- Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 May
Quarry Hill Road exit slip, and Tonbridge overbridge (A2014) will be closed between 8pm and 6am on:
- Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 May
- Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 May
- Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 August

Diversions
There’ll be fully signed diversions for all our closures:
- When the A21 northbound is fully closed, traffic will be diverted via the A228 and A26.
- When the southbound Quarry Hill exit slip is closed, traffic will continue on the A21 to exit at Tonbridge and via Pembury Road.
- When Tonbridge overbridge is closed, traffic will be diverted via Pembury Road, the A21 and A264.
A21 Safety Barrier Repairs - 31 August to 20 December 2024
We're repairing and maintaining the A21 by replacing safety barriers on the southbound carriageway between Westerham and Vauxhall, and on the northbound between Vauxhall and Morleys.
We'll also resurface the southbound carriageway between the A25 Westerham junction and Morleys roundabout.
This essential work will be done in two phases, starting with the southbound carriageway, involving overnight closures from 8pm to 6am and narrow lanes with a 50mph speed limit during the day.
Phase one:
A21 southbound between Westerham and Vauxhall junctions.
Overnight closures:
Saturday, 31 August - Sunday, 19 September 2024.
Narrow lanes with a 50mph limit will be in place during the day from 1-19 September.
Phase two:
A21 northbound between Vauxhall junction and Morleys roundabout.
Overnight closures:
Monday, 2 December - Wednesday, 18 December.
Narrow lanes with a 50mph limit will be in place during the day from 3-18 December.
Diversion routes:
A21 Southbound diversion:
Traffic will be diverted the A25, A224, A225, B245, A227, East Street, A26 to rejoin the A21.
A21 Northbound diversion:
Traffic will diverted by the A26, A227, B245 to join the A21 at Morleys roundabout.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
A21 Tonbridge Bypass northbound resurfacing and barrier works - 2 to 19 December 2024
We’ll be carrying out resurfacing and safety barrier renewal works on the A21 Tonbridge Bypass northbound carriageway.
To do this safely, there will be overnight closures of the A21 Tonbridge Bypass northbound carriageway between A26 Vauxhall Junction and Morley’s roundabout. This will be from 2 December to 19 December, between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Saturday.
The A21 will be closed from Longfield Junction to Morleys Roundabout on the 4, 5 and 6 December (three nights), 8pm to 6am.
The A21 southbound carriageway from Morleys Road roundabout to Vauxhall roundabout will also be closed Monday 2 December to Friday 20 December (Monday to Friday only 8pm to 6am). For details, please see our A21 safety package page.
Diversion routes
Vauxhall Junction to Morleys roundabout: The diversion route will be via the A2014 onto the B245 and joining the A21 at Morleys roundabout.
Longfield Junction to Morleys roundabout: The diversion route will be via the A264 at Pembury onto the A26 over the A21 to get onto the B245 and back onto the A21 at Morleys roundabout.
A21/A25 Riverhead Deck Refurbishment - 23 September 2024 to November 2024
We’re fully refurbishing the deck of the Westerham Road overbridge that goes over the A21.
Works include:
- waterproofing
- duct and verge replacement
- resurfacing
Closures
To do this work safely, we'll use a mix of overnight and full weekend closures from Monday 23 September.
We'll only be closing:
- the bridge deck over the A21
- south or northbound off slips to the bridge
Westbound Riverhead bridge over the A21 and southbound off slip closures
- overnight between 8pm and 6am for 7 consecutive nights from Monday 23 to Sunday 29 September
- weekend closure from 8pm Friday 4 October to 6am Monday 7 October
- overnight 8pm to 6am Saturday 12 October
- weekend closure from 8pm Friday 15 November to 8pm Monday 18 November.
During westbound closures there will also be a lane closure on the eastbound side for safety.
Eastbound Riverhead bridge over the A21 and northbound off slip closures
- overnight between 8pm and 6am for 7 consecutive nights from Monday 14 October to Sunday 20 October. On 18, 19 and 20 the closure time starts at 10pm
- weekend closure from 8pm Friday 25 October to 6am Monday 28 October
- overnight between 8pm and 6am between Monday 28 October and Wednesday 30 October
- weekend closure from 8pm Friday 22 November to 8pm Sunday 24 November.
During eastbound closures:
- there will also be a lane closure on the westbound side for safety
- A21 Sevenoaks Bypass north and southbound exit slip roads will also be closed along with a northbound lane closure
- southbound exit slip closure will not be closed during 14 to 18 October closures.

- by Westerham Road southbound entry slip onto the A21 Sevenoaks Bypass
- down to A21 Morleys Roundabout
- back up to Westerham Road northbound exit slip.
Eastbound diversion
- by Westerham Road northbound entry slip onto the A21 Sevenoaks Bypass
- up to M25 Junction 4
- back to Westerham Road SB exit slip
Eastbound closures - non-motorway traffic
There will be a non-motorway traffic diversion during the eastbound closures via the B2211 and the A224.
We will return to complete our works in the Central Reservation in 2025.

A23 Handcross to Warninglid resurfacing - 14 October to 3 December 2024
We’re resurfacing the A23 between Handcross and Warninglid.
We’ll work overnight on weeknights (8pm to 6am) when the road is quieter.
We're due to finish work on the morning of Tuesday 3 December.
Closures
- Monday 14 October to Friday 1 November - A23 coastbound carriageway from Pease Pottage to Bolney
- Monday 4 November to Tuesday 3 December - A23 London bound carriageway from Bolney to Pease Pottage.
Diversion
There will be a diversion in both directions by the A24, A264 and A272
A23 Hickstead slip road closures - 13 January 2025 to February 2025
There will be four-way traffic lights controlling the slip roads onto the A23 at Hickstead from Monday 13 January until early February.
Then, from Friday 7 February, the northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight (8pm to 6am) for 14 nights.

A34 near Newbury - January 2025
We will be working on the A34 at Speen just outside Newbury between Graces Lane and the Bath Road junction from Monday 6 January.
The stretch will be closed at night:
- from 9pm to 6am Monday to Fridays throughout January,
- and there will be daytime lane restrictions during from the morning of Tuesday 7 January for the rest of the month.
We may also need to work night times at weekends in January if work is cancelled by the weather during the week.
We will definitely be closing the stretch for two nights over the last weekend of January (Saturday 25 and Sunday 26).
A34 Litchfield and Tothill – 9 to 19 December 2024
We will soon be resurfacing the A34 northbound carriageway between Litchfield and the B4640 Tothill junction, south of Newbury.
Closure
To do this safely, we’ll need to close the A34 northbound from the A303 Bullington Cross junction to the B4640 Tothill junction.
These closures will be in place between 9pm and 6am, Monday to Friday only, from:
• Monday 9 December 2024 for nine nights
• Monday 6 January 2025 for 10 nights
Diversion
A signed diversion will be in place
- east along the A303 to Basingstoke
- north on the A339 towards Newbury
- Road users can then either turn left at the Newtown roundabout to join the A34 at Tothill, or continue on the A339 through Newbury to join the A34 near Chieveley

Maintenance work on the A404

A404 Burchetts Green overnight survey work for new lighting system - 25 to 28 November 2024
We're carrying out surveys of the lighting assets at the A404 Burchetts Green Roundabout and entry / exit slip roads.
The results will allow our consultants to design a replacement lighting system.
We'll need overnight traffic management on the roundabout and slip roads for safety during the surveying. Diversions will be in place while the entry and exit slips to the A404 are closed.
Every effort will be made to minimise noise during these works. Where possible, the noisiest works will be done before 11pm in the vicinity of the roundabout.
Overnight closures, 8pm to 6am:
- Monday 25 November: full closure of the southbound off-slip to the roundabout
- Tuesday 26 November: Full closure of the southbound off-slip to the roundabout plus Outer Ring of the roundabout. Full closure of the northbound on-slip.
- Wednesday 27 November: Full closure of A404 northbound on-slip, plus outer ring on the roundabout
Diversion routes
Traffic wishing to use the southbound Burchetts Green exit slip: continue to A404m junction 9b roundabout and return.
Traffic wishing to use the northbound entry slip: continue down A404 Henley Road to A404m junction 9b and return.

M2 Junction 2 slip road closure - ongoing
The London bound off slip at junction 2 of the M2 is closed for safety reasons after it was damaged in an accident in September.
We will reopen it when we have completed extensive repairs and made everything entirely safe again.
Diversion
A diversion via junction 1 of the M2 and back to junction 2 on the eastbound carriageway is in place.

M2 Salters Lane near Faversham - 14 October to 20 December 2024
We're closing Salter’s Lane off the M2 from 14 October until 20 December (Monday to Fridays only) for bridge repairs.
We'll close the road at the junction with the A2 Canterbury Road and the A251 Ashford Road.
We'll escort residents, businesses, pedestrians and cyclists through the closure.

Sandyhurst Lane bridge over the M20 - 16 December to 18 December
We're working on the bridge carrying Sandyhurst Lane over the M20 near junction 9 and Ashford.
Closure
We'll close the bridge from 7am on Monday 16 December until 7pm on Wednesday 18 December.
As this is a residential area, we're working during the day as our work is too noisy to do at night.
Diversion
A diversion route will be in place by:
- Sandyhurst Lane
- Faversham Road
- Trinity Road
- A20 Fougeres Way
- A20 Ashford Road
We'll escort pedestrians over the bridge when it is safe to do so.
M20 junctions junctions 8-9 – concrete repairs - 02 September to 25 November 2024
We are carrying out concrete repairs and maintenance to the M20 carriageway between junctions 8 and 9.
To undertake these works safely, there will be overnight carriageway closures on Friday, Saturday and Sundays and overnight lane closures Monday to Thursday between the hours of 8pm to 6am.

- Traffic wishing to get to junction 6 of the M20 will exit the M2 at junction 3 and A229

- Traffic will be diverted via A249 (Sittingbourne Road), M2 junction 2, A228 to M20

M23 Crawley junction 10 interchange, southern bridge deck refurbishment - 2 December to 6 December 2024
Closures
The M23 junction 10 Crawley interchange will be closed:
- overnight (8pm to 6am) tonight (Wednesday 4)
- tomorrow night (Thursday 5 December).
- While the interchange itself and all the slip roads are closed the mainline M23 will remain open.
Diversions
The local diversion for vehicles exiting the M23 southbound wishing to access A2011 to Crawley, will be:
- via Copthorne Way, A2220 Copthorne Rd, A2004, to return to the A2011.
The local diversion for vehicles travelling westbound on the A2011, should take the same diversion:
- via A2220 Copthorne Rd, A2004, to return to the A2011.
For westbound traffic from Copthorne Way to Crawley:
- divert at Copthorne Road, following A2220, A204 and rejoin A2011.
For southbound traffic exiting at junction 10 for Crawley:
- continue on M23 southbound and use junction 10a to return northbound and exit junction 10.

M3 junction 3 Lightwater interchange, east and west interchange bridge repairs - 8 January - 14 March 2025
We need to carry out essential bridge repairs at the east and west interchange bridges. This will comprise bridge joints installation and the associated utility diversions and concrete works.
Closures
Overnight lane closures:
- 9pm to 6am, weeknights only
- 8 January 2025 to 19 February
- 24 February to 14 March
During these closures, the outer and inner ring of the interchange will be closed, with one lane running.
We will also need two, full weekend closures. These will be directional closures of the interchange (including slip roads), i.e, one bridge will be closed at a time so traffic can still flow in one direction.
Full weekend closures:
- East bridge (A322 southbound), 9pm Friday 21 February to 6am Monday 24 February.
- West bridge (A322 northbound), 9pm Friday 28 February to 6am Monday 3 March.
Contingency dates have been arranged in case the full weekend closures have to be postponed. These are:
- East bridge (A322 southbound), 9pm Friday 7 March to 6am Monday 10 March.
- West bridge (A322 northbound) 9pm Friday 14 March to 6am Monday 17 March.

Diversion for full weekend closures:
East bridge (A322 southbound) closures:
- A322 northbound, left onto A30 (London Road),
- left onto B3015 (The Maultway),
- left onto B311 (Red Road), rejoining the A322 at Gordon Boys Roundabout. To join the M3 at Frimley interchange (junction 4).
East bridge closures:
- A322 Northbound, left onto A30 (London Road),
- left onto A331 then joining at Frimley interchange (junction 4).
For West bridge (A322 northbound) closures:
- A322 southbound, right onto B311 (Red Road),
- right onto B3015 (The Maultway),
- right onto A30 (London Road),
- right onto Grove End, and then rejoining the A322.
To join the M3 at Frimley interchange (junction 4) during West bridge closures:
- A322 southbound,
- right onto B311 (Red Road),
- right onto B3015 (The Maultway),
- left onto A30 (London Road),
- left onto A331 then joining at Frimley interchange (junction 4).

Maintenance work on the M4

M4 junction 11 westbound offslip resurfacing - 11 November 2024 and 25 to 30 November 2024
We'll be carrying out essential resurfacing work. For safety, we need to make overnight lane closures on the M4 junction 11 westbound offslip road for survey work on Monday 11 November, 9pm to 6am, followed by overnight westbound offslip closures, Monday 25 November to Saturday 30 November, 9pm to 6am, for the resurfacing.
Diversion routes
Continue on the westbound M4 and take junction 12 offslip. Rejoin M4 eastbound and exit M4 junction 11 offslip.
M4 junction 12 Theale Interchange bridge repairs - 16 September 2024 to end March 2025
We are carrying out essential bridge repairs to junction 12 of the M4 Theale Interchange.
Work will include replacing the expansion joints, waterproofing, and resurfacing to maintain the structural integrity to both bridges.
Works will be undertaken in two phases and will require overnight closures to west and east side of the junction including the on-slip roads to the M4 and 24/7 lane reduction over the bridge. Full weekend closures to west and east sides of the bridge including the on-slip roads to the M4 and overnight lane closures on the M4 in both directions.
The hard shoulder of the M4 westbound carriageway under the bridge will be closed 24/7 for the duration of works.

West side of junction reduced to two lanes running 24/7
- 16 September – 22 November
Overnight closures
West side of junction overnight closures, including the westbound on slip to the M4.
- 16 September to 11 October (9pm to 6am) Monday to Saturday only

- Please note: the overnight closure scheduled for the 26 October has been postponed.

M4 closures and ‘up and over’ diversions
M4 eastbound at junction 12, Tuesday 19 November
Traffic will be diverted off the M4 at Junction 12 exit slip and rejoin the motorway over the interchange using the junction 12 entry slip.
M4 westbound at junction 12, Saturday 23 November and Sunday 24 November
Traffic will be diverted off the M4 at junction 12 exit slip and rejoin the motorway over the interchange using the junction 12 entry slip.

East side of junction overnight closures, including the eastbound on slip to the M4.

Traffic will be diverted via, A4 Bath Road, A340 Basingstoke Road, A340 Paices Hill, A340 Aldermanston Road, A340 Mulfords Hill, Tadley Hill, Main Road, A340 Aldermanston Road, A339 Ringway North, A33, A4155 Castle Hill, A4155 Bath Road to Theale Interchange junction 12 of the M4.
East side junction diversion
Traffic will be diverted via, A4155 Bath Road, A4155 Castle Hill, A33, A339 Ringway North, A340 Aldermanston Road, Main Road, Tadley Hill, A340 Aldermanston Road, A340 Paices Hill, A340 Basingstoke Road, A4 Bath Road to Theale Interchange junction 12 of the M4.
Traffic wishing to the join the M4 when the on slips are closed, will follow the diversions to it reaches junction 11 of the M4.
