Work

We'll be working in phases to resurface the A2070 near Ashford. The first phase involves closing the stretch between the Avenue Jacques Faucheux and The Boulevard.

Closures

The road will be closed eastbound only overnight from Monday 2 June until Monday 9 June. 

The subsequent phases of work will be: 

Tuesday 10 - Friday 13 June: Avenue Jacques Faucheux and The Boulevard (westbound)

Monday 16 - Friday 20 June: The Boulevard to the M20 Link Roundabout (eastbound) 

Monday 23 – Friday 26 June: M20 Link Roundabout to The Boulevard (westbound)

Monday 30 – Wednesday 9 July: M20 Link Roundabout to M20 Gyratory (eastbound and westbound) 

Thursday 10 – Friday 11 July : A2070 Sevington Link Roundabout (only) closed 

Diversion

Traffic will be diverted to

  • A2042 from Avenue Jacques to M20 J10 – 10A.

When the Sevington link roundabout is closed traffic will be diverted to A20, then M20 J10 – 10A

Work

We're carrying out improvement works on the A2070 between Cloverleaf and M20 J10/10A.

The works involve a carriageway resurfacing scheme including loop technology and road marking renewal to improve the condition of the road and to aid the safety of road users. 

At the same time as these essential works, we will also carry out horticultural maintenance and litter picking.

Closures

Traffic management will consist of mostly lane closures and full carriageway closures in six phases to safely deliver the works and reduce impact on customers.

Works will be carried out at night from June 2 to July 11 from between 8pm and 6am.

Phasing (dates inclusive)

Closure: 2 June – 9 June

  • Phase 1 - Ave Jacques Faucheux to The Blvd (eastbound)

Closure: 10 June – 13 June

  • Phase 2 - The Blvd to Ave Jacques Faucheux (westbound)

  • Phase 3 - The Blvd to M20 Link Roundabout (eastbound) 

Closure: 23 June – 26 June

  • Phase 4 - M20 Link Roundabout to Blvd (westbound)

  • Phase 5 - M20 Link Roundabout to M20 Giratory (eastbound) 

Closure: 10 July – 11 July 

  • Phase 6 – A2070 Sevington Link Roundabout (Only) 

Diversions

Diversions, which have been agreed and approved by Kent County Council:

For Phase 1,2,3 and 4:

Traffic will be diverted to

  • A2042 from Avenue Jacques to M20 J10 – 10A. 

For Phase 5:

Traffic will be diverted to

  • A20, then M20 J10 – 10A

We're keeping disruption to a minimum by working at night when traffic levels are lower. However, our work will generate some noise, so we would like to apologise in advance for any disturbance this may cause you.

The essential improvements will ensure drivers continue to have smooth and reliable journeys on this part of the road network.

Maintenance work on the A21

We will be resurfacing and clearing vegetation on the A21 between Bewl Bridge Lane and Pembury northbound. 

The essential improvements will ensure drivers continue to have smooth and reliable journeys on this part of the network.

We’re keeping disruption to a minimum by working at night when traffic levels are lower but there will be some noise and we apologise in advance for this. 

The works will take place from Tuesday 1 July from 8pm to 6am to Saturday 5 July. They will also take place from Monday 7 July from 8pm to 6am to Saturday 19 July.

On the A21 Bewl Bridge there will be a full carriageway closure from Scotney Castle roundabout to Flimwell in both directions between 8pm and 6am. Escorts will be provided for this closure from 1 to 5 July.

On the A21 Pembury there will be a full closure on the road from Longfield to Kippings Cross southbound between 8pm and 6am.

There will be clear road signs guiding motorway traffic along a different route using the A268, A229, A262, A228, and A26.

Closure information for A21 Pembury

The below closures are scheduled to take place:

  • Monday 7 July for one night - A21 southbound carriageway closed from Longfield to Pembury including the on and off slip roads at Pembury. 
  • Tuesday 8 July for one night - A21 southbound on and off slip roads at Pembury including a lane one closure
  • Thursday 10 July for two nights - A21 Pembury northbound on and off slip roads including a lane closure on the A264 (Pembury Road) northbound carriageway from Oakley School
  • Monday 14 July for two nights -  A21 Pembury northbound on and off slip roads including a lane closure on the A264 (Pembury Road) northbound carriageway from Oakley School
  • Wednesday 16 July for two nights - A21 Pembury northbound on and off slip roads with a lane one closure

Diversions:

For the A21 Pembury southbound off slip road, traffic will be diverted from:

  • the A26 onto Grosvenor Road
  • Mount Pleasant Road
  • Crescent Road
  • Calverley Road and A264

Local traffic will be able to join the A21 southbound carriageway from Henwood Green Road

For the A21 Pembury northbound off slip road, traffic will be diverted via B2160, B2017 and A228.

Local traffic will be able to continue along the A21 to turn right on to Henwood Green Road.

Maintenance work on the A23

The A23 Brighton Road will be closed overnight between the Farthing Way roundabout and Glebe Road in Hooley from Monday 9 June through to Saturday 28 June. Between Monday and Thursday the closure will start each evening at 10pm and the road will reopen at 5.30am. On Fridays the closure will start at 11pm and the road will reopen at 6am. There may also be some closures on Saturday and Sunday nights which will be from 10pm to 6am on Saturdays and 10pm to 5.30am on Sundays.

We're resurfacing the A303 eastbound between Barton Stacey and Bullington Cross. We'll be working from the Street / Barton Stacey off slip to the bridge over the A34.

Closure

While we work, we'll close the road overnight (9pm to 6am) on weeknights only.

Diversion

  • take the A3057 to Stockbridge
  • then take the A30 to Sutton Scotney, Bullington Lane to Bullington Cross.

The diversion is 3.5 miles longer than the motorway route. It will add around 10-15 minutes to your journey.

We are undertaking road improvement works on the A30, between the A303 and the A34 in July.

The works will be carried out in two separate parts – a north section and a south section.

7 to 12 July – north section

Overnight (9pm to 6am) lane closures. Weeknights only.

For traffic on A34 diversion:

  • starts at northbound slip road
  • A34 to Tufton
  • turn around to A34 south to Bullington
  • A303 westbound to Barton Stacey 

For traffic on A303 diversion:

  • starts at A303 eastbound to Micheldever
  • turn around at Micheldever
  • A303 westbound to Bullington Cross
  • south on A34 to Three Maids Hill
  • turn around at junction to access A34 northbound

14 to 23 July – south section

Overnight (9pm to 6am) lane closures. Weeknights only.

For the A303 westbound to Barton Stacey diversion:

  • turn around at Barton Stacey
  • A303 east to Bullington up to Tufton
  • turn around at Tufton to A34 southbound and A34 south to Three Maids Hill
  • turn around to join the A34 north to rejoin A303

The diversions will take road users around ten to 15 minutes but delays should be fewer because of night time working. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and the roadworks will result in smoother journeys for road users.

We're carrying out work to repair the embankment and replace the safety barrier along the A34 southbound carriageway.

These improvement works are essential to ensure road user safety, and we apologise for any disturbance caused by these works.

Work will be done overnight, on Monday to Saturday nights between 9pm and 6am, starting on Monday 7 July 2025, and expected to be completed by the end of September 2025. 

During this period, the following traffic management restrictions will be in place:

  • Daytime narrow lanes with a 50mph speed limit

7 July – overnight closures of the A34 southbound from Hinksey Hill junction to Marcham Interchange; with a diversion via A423 southern bypass, eastern bypass, A4074 to Burcot, A415 to Abingdon.

8 July to 9 September – Overnight closures of the A34 southbound from Lodge Hill junction to Marcham Interchange; with a diversion via Oxford Road, Dunmore Road, Copenhagen Drive, Colwell Drive, Marcham Road.

11 to 27 September – overnight closures of the A34 southbound from Hinksey Hill junction to Marcham Interchange; with a diversion via A423 southern bypass, eastern bypass, A4074 to Burcot, A415 to Abingdon.

Work

We’re doing maintenance work to renew road markings on the A34 near Chieveley to the M40. 

We’ll work weeknights only (9pm to 6am) from Monday 16 June to October 2025, weather permitting. 

Closures and diversions

To work safely, we'll need the following road closures:

16 June to 21 June 

  • A34 northbound to M40 junction 9

Traffic will be diverted via:

  •  A44

  • B4030 to join the A41 westbound to join the 40 junction.

23 June to 28 June 

  • A34 northbound Milton to Hinskey Hill 

Traffic will be diverted via:

  •  A4130
  • A417 Reading Road
  • Wallingford Street
  • Seesen Way
  • A420 to rejoin the A34 at Botley Interchange.

30 June to 2 July 

  • A34 northbound Hinskey Hill to Peartree

traffic will be diverted via:

  • A423
  • A4142
  • A40
  • A44 to rejoin the A34 at Peartree Roundabout.

There will be a road closure on the A34 Oxford Road South near Chieveley, in Berkshire in July while a survey of fire damage to a bridge is carried out.

The below closure is scheduled to take place:

  • 6 July and 7 July – A34 southbound
    Overnight (8pm to 6am) full carriageway closure

A diversion will see A34 southbound traffic approaching Chieveley diverted off the A34 towards the M4 J13 Chieveley Interchange, proceeding towards A339 (Newbury) before rejoining the A34 southbound.

While we endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum there may be some noise while the fire damage investigation is carried out and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

Maintenance on the M1

We're renewing more than 500 metres of motorway boundary fence on the M1 northbound near junction 1 in Hendon, starting 7 April 2025 and finishing in \july 2025.

To minimise disruption, our work will take place overnight, from 9pm to 5.30am, Monday to Friday.

For safety, regular overnight lane closures (9pm to 5:30am) will be in place on the M1 northbound carriageway from April to July 2025. One lane will remain open for northbound traffic.

The link road from the A406 North Circular Road westbound to the M1 northbound will be closed overnight, but access to the M1 will still be available via the Staples Corner Roundabout.

We won’t need any traffic restrictions on the adjacent M1 southbound carriageway to complete this work. The overnight lane closures on the northbound carriageway will be removed by 5.30am each morning ahead of busier daytime use.

Work

We’ll shortly be carrying out repairs to the bridge that goes over the M2 between Homestall Road and Sharsted Hill. We’ll do bridge repair work and refurbishment, install vehicle restraint systems, and replace the bridge parapets.

Closures and diversions

To work safely, we need to fully close Champion’s Court Road between Homestall Road and Sharstead Hill near Newnham on the bridge over the M2 for 8 weeks, starting from 16 June. 

To do this work safely and work under the bridge, we’ll also need to close the M2 overnight on the following dates:

M2 Junctions 6 to 5 closed London bound

  • Friday 20 June
  • Wednesday 25 June
  • Thursday 26 June
  • Friday 27 June
  • Sunday 20 July
  • Monday 4 August 

Traffic will be diverted via:

  •  A28 to junction 10 of the M20
  • take M20 London bound to junction 7
  • take A249 Detling Hill
  • and rejoin the M2 at junction 5

M2 Junctions 5 to 6 closed coast-bound 

  • Monday 23 June
  • Tuesday 24 June
  • Monday 30 June
  • Tuesday 1 July
  • Saturday 19 July

M2 Junction 4 Bredhurst 

For safety, we also need to close the M2 at junction 4 on the following dates:

2 July and 3 July:

  • M2 Junction 4 Coastbound exit slip road closure.
  • Traffic will be diverted to join at Junction 5 instead.

4 July and 7 July:

  • M2 Junction 4 Coastbound and London bound full closure.
  • Diverted traffic up and over the slip roads at M2 Junction 4.

8 July and 9 July: 

  • M2 Junction 4 London bound entry slip road closure.
  • Diverted traffic to join at Junction 5 instead.

Work

We're maintaining the the bridge carrying Cobham Road over the M25 between Cobham and Leatherhead in Surrey. 

We’ll need to close the bridge over two weekends in 2025 to do this work.

Closure

Our first full weekend closure is:

  • 9pm Friday 27 June to 6am Monday 30 June 2025

We need this to re-waterproof the bridge and replace an 18-year-old bridge joint. 

Access to all nearby properties and businesses on both sides of the Cobham Road bridge will remain available. However, you won't be able to drive across the bridge during the works.

Diversion

When the Cobham Road bridge is closed, directly above the M25, there will be fully signed diversion routes via Leatherhead.

Southbound traffic (from the Cobham direction), will be diverted via:

  • the A245 Woodlands Lane
  • Woodlands Road
  • Randalls Road eastbound
  • Bull Hill southbound
  • Station Road westbound
  • B2122 Waterway Road
  • Guilford Road southbound
  • Cobham Road westbound.

 Northbound traffic (from the Fetcham direction), will be diverted via:

  • Cobham Road eastbound
  • the B2122 Guildford Road
  • Waterway Road northbound
  • A245 Station Road westbound
  • Station Approach northbound
  • Randalls Road
  • Woodlands Road
  • Woodlands Lane westbound

Cobham Road bridge maintenance diversion route map.

Please note that there is a railway bridge on our diversion route with a 3.7 metre (12’-3”) height restriction. This bridge is located on Cobham Road between Shamrock Close and River Lane in Fetcham. We encourage drivers of high-sided vehicles to plan ahead and seek alternative routes if necessary.

We’re working closely with both major and local roadworks to ensure our closures and diversion routes are coordinated effectively. 

A second weekend closure of the bridge is expected to happen later in 2025 and we will provide more details closer to the time.

We’re resurfacing the southbound entry slip road of the M3 at junction 4 (Frimley) to improve its skid resistance and provide you with safer journeys.

To do this we need to close the slip road overnight, 9pm to 6am for three nights from Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 June.

In addition lane one of the M3 southbound will be closed from just before the exit slip road at junction 4 to just after the entry slip road.

Traffic will be diverted via the M3 northbound to junction 3 Lightwater and back southbound.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

The road will be closed:

  • north of the bridge at B383 Windsor Road/B386 Chertsey Road roundabout
  • south of the bridge at B383 Windsor Road intersection with Valley End Road.

There will be access for local traffic south of the bridge at B383 Windsor Road intersection with Staple Hill.

There'll be a diversion via B386 Chertsey Road, B386 Longcross Road, Staple Hill, B383 Windsor Road.

Northbound diversion:

  • take Staple Hill Road, then left onto B386 Longcross Road
  • head left at roundabout onto B386 Chertsey Road
  • rejoin at roundabout B383 Windsor Road.

Southbound diversion

  • take B386 Chertsey Road, then right at roundabout onto B386 Longcross Road
  • head right onto Staple Hill towards Chobham
  • then right to rejoin B383 Windsor Road
5 August to 6 August – Windsor Road northbound

24-hour lane closure (from 9pm to 9pm) under temporary traffic light control.  This is to allow concrete underneath the bridge to be strong enough for traffic. Diversion routes will be in place.
