A11 Thetford to Besthorpe maintenance

We're resurfacing and replacing road markings and studs along the A11 between Thetford and Besthorpe (near Attleborough) in both directions.

Work starts 6 July

We’ll start working on Monday 6 July 2026 on Mondays to Saturdays overnight only between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures

To work safely, we will need to close the A11 overnight in phases:

6 July – 8 August: A11 closed southbound Besthorpe to London Road roundabout in Thetford

10–12 August: A11 closed northbound London Road roundabout in Thetford to Attleborough

Please note, there will be no planned closures on Friday 31 July or Saturday 1 August.

Diversions

Southbound Diversion:

Southbound you will be diverted onto:
- the A47 westbound at Thickthorn roundabout. At Swaffham
- you will leave the A47 and join the A1065 towards Mundford
- at the roundabout, you will turn left onto the A134 and will rejoin the A11 at Mundford Road roundabout.
Northbound Diversion:

Please follow the same diversion route in the opposite direction

Project information

Resurfacing work and replacement of road markings and studs is taking place along the A11 between Thetford and Besthorpe (near Attleborough) in both directions

Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface, as well as improved reflectivity of road markings and road studs (cat's eyes).
