M60 - Overturned HGV
The M60 anti-clockwise J5 (Wythenshawe, M56) exit slip road in Greater Manchester is closed due to an overturned lorry.
As a result of the incident, there is also a spillage of fuel on the carriageway and barrier damage.
Recovery is now on scene but is likely to be complex and protracted. National Highways have deployed resources to assist with recovery and clean up.
Please be aware this is the exit slip road road users would use to join the A5103 and M56 heading for Manchester Airport and therefore are advised to use the diversion route below.
Diversion Routes
Road users heading anti-clockwise are advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol on road signs.
- Continue on the M60 anti-clockwise from J5 and follow to J2.
- Leave the M60 at J2.
- At the M60 J2/A560 roundabout take the 6th exit to rejoin the M60 clockwise.
- Follow the M60 clockwise back to J4 and leave the M60 clockwise to join the M56 westbound.
- Continue on the M56 to J3 to continue your journey.
Traffic wishing to use the A5103 (including B5167), should exit the M56 at J2 and use the A560 westbound to access the A5103 at the A560/M56 J3A roundabout.
If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
